Adopted pitbull takes on two bears in the backyard to save her 'boyfriend' — she was later rushed to the emergency

This isn't the first time an animal's heroic act has made headlines. However, one pit bull mix, which risked its own life to protect her small chiweenie "boyfriend" from two bears, is nothing like you've ever seen or heard before. The injured dog, Marion, went viral on TikTok when the clinic, @emergencyvetclinic, uploaded the footage on their official account. The video has garnered over 383,900 views and 66,300 at the time of this writing.

The on-screen text in the clip narrates the horrifying incident Marion survived after putting up a fight. It reads, "Our Maryann is 'Marion' who didn't hesitate to take on not one, but two bears to save her boyfriend when she saw them charge him in the backyard." In the clip, Marion is wrapped in bandages with visible wounds. The unfortunate incident occured when Marion and her fellow pet Bruno were playing in the backyard, and two bears suddenly approached the property.
On seeing the giant predators walking towards them, Bruno instantly started barking, which also alerted Marion. One bear pounced on Bruno, but luckily, his beloved canine partner stood guard. Recounting the incident, Claire Samford, Referral Coordinator at the Emergency Vet Clinic of Niceville and Destin, told Newsweek, "Marion immediately ran to defend him, squaring up with two bears. One of the bears attacked her, pinning her to the ground and biting her on her neck and face." Samford continued, "Miraculously, she escaped and was brought to our clinic for emergency care."

Samford also shared that while they have seen numerous bear-related accidents in Florida this summer, many don't come with "a heroine story like Marion's." As per KBTX, a statistical report from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission showed that they receive an average of 6,300 bear-related calls each year and have recorded 42 instances of physical contact between wild black bears and humans since the 1970s, when detailed record-keeping began.
Meanwhile, Marion's owner shared a positive health update since the bear attack, stating, "Marion's wounds are already closed and healing nicely. She was back to her normal self the very next day as if nothing had happened. She's so back to normal that I'm worried that she would go after the bear again if she saw one, especially if she thinks she needs to protect us."

The owner further revealed that Marion is only scared of one thing - the fear of "taking a bath." Sadly, the adorable pooch was homeless for one year before she was adopted, and her new family credits her life on the street for her strong survival instinct. Meanwhile, Marion is such an inspiration that the people filled the comments with encouraging words. @charlotte.tafoya wrote, "Dogs really are angels on earth. I just wanna give her a big hug." @msclapo exclaimed, "I hope she has a swift recovery. Please give her many treats." @xoshiannesky commented, "Give the best belly rubs from me." While @sm333.0 wrote, "Heroes come without capes and in all sizes and shapes. Hope both doggos are going to be ok."
