It's incredible how dogs can understand all our problems without us uttering a single word. No matter how difficult the situation is, one moment with these furballs can completely transform your perspective on life. Something similar happened to an individual going by u/xanaxgiggles on Reddit, who formed a strong bond with their boss's adorable Golden Retriever, Max.

When the author's boss brought his dog to the office, he quickly became everyone's favorite — receiving pets and treats galore. At first, the author maintained a respectable distance from Max, as they didn't trust dogs who trusted everyone, but one day, a small, meaningful incident changed it all. After a rough day, the author was having lunch while listening to "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac when Max suddenly barged into the room.

"Max walks in. Look at me. He lays his head on my lap like he knows. I start talking to him. Not baby talk, like a full-on 'life’s hard, bro, huh?' type beat. He sighs. For 20 minutes, we just sit there in mutual emotional exhaustion," the author shared. Since that incident, Max began following the author everywhere around the office, while growling at the HR. Not only that, Max even tried getting inside the author's car whenever they tried to leave the office. The author's closeness with the dog was obviously not sitting well with their boss, who was most likely missing his best friend's complete attention. "His wife says Max sleeps near the door now and 'seems distant.' I think I emotionally hijacked their family dog," the author wrote. The Reddit post received an overwhelming response on social media, with people specifically hinting at Max recognizing the author's inner emotional turmoil.

For instance, u/lordreed commented, "It seems Max is keyed to emotional distress. This ain't no FU. Max is a good boy who wants to give you some joy; I'd say go with the flow." u/onebeautifulmesss wrote, "It’s not anyone’s fault, and Max sounds like a very good boy. He’s probably worried about you. Has he seen you happy since the incident? Perhaps he is hoping you are ok. We don’t deserve dogs." u/straberi93 came up with a win-win strategy, "The best thing you can do for him is to get better then. Sounds like it's time to talk to a doctor about medication or look into therapy. Do it for Max, he says, you're worth it <3."

u/cadillacgirl shared, "I don’t know what we’ve done to deserve animal companions, but this story right here proves that dogs sometimes have more humanity than humans. I think this dog is your guardian angel, and he’s just keeping an ever-watchful eye on you." To add, u/wardog008 said, "Nah, you didn't f*** up. Max could see you were upset and was worried about you. Goldens seem to be one of the best breeds for that. They almost always just want to see humans happy and are good at recognizing when you're not. Sounds to me like Max is a very special dog."

u/hreidmar1423 commented, "I think he's a natural therapy dog, and he finds his purpose in being supportive to people. Dogs have different personalities just like people, and some dogs are destined to help people. It must suck for the wife, but I doubt he's that distant, lol. Don't shy away from Max just because of your boss. It sounds like Max found his purpose to help you, so let him do his job, and eventually you'll notice your soul slowly healing."
