Cats are known for being independent; they like to come and go as they please. This can be both a blessing and a curse for cat owners. One way that people deal with their independent nature is to let them roam around freely and explore the world. In one such instance, a family who allows their cat to come and go as it pleases was taken aback to find a note attached to its collar one day. Angie, known on TikTok as @crazydiamond419, took to the platform to share her unique story.

"We have to let him out 'cause he sits by the window and cries sometimes," she started explaining. However, the note came one fine day after they decided to put a collar on the cat to help identify him as he went outside; plus the collar also indicated that the cat belonged to somebody and was not a stray. It was soon after this that the family realized that the cat was leading a double life and loved visiting this other family — who wrote back to Angie. The note read, "We love visits from your sweet kitty. We wish we knew what to call him."

The cat, Maynard, had been spending a significant amount of time every day at the other home, and his family was completely oblivious to his adventures. Touched by the note, Angie immediately wrote a response to tell his second family more about him. "So we wrote a little note today and I'm gonna put it on him," the mother said in the video. "It says, hello my name is Maynard, sometimes Uncle May May or just May May, I am six years old and I belong to Reagan and Angie," the note read. She then folded the note and taped it around his collar. The video ends with Angie and her daughter listening to their feline's demands to be let back outside. The waiting game then started to see if they would get another note back. Much to their surprise, they did. "She was really nice and I felt we were both kinda excited about writing," Angie told Newsweek via TikTok. "We just talked about Maynard and what he does over there when he visits."

In another follow-up video, Angie and her daughter received another note that revealed more details about Maynard's life outside of his home. They told them all about his love for belly rubs from his second family and talked about how he loved spending time in the cat house that they have on their porch. Maynard also loved playing with the other cats through the window and would also get treats from the family from time to time. However, Angie has now decided to not let him leave during the winter. This means his adventures will only resume once the temperatures go up.

Still, people in the comment section loved the cute interaction between the two families. However, there were also people who warned them about the whole ordeal. "Please be careful. my daughter's cat Big Mama aka shy was taken one night. She was very friendly and loved people so someone had scooped her up and we never saw her again," wrote @redyank1990. "He's just checking his turf. Our tuxedo was loved by the entire neighborhood. Proof being we didn't need to feed him much because he had food dishes at every house," added @philiphall49. "My cat begs to go outside all the time then literally knocks on the door with her paws when she wants back in. Love it bc she seems so much happier than before when we always kept her inside," added @lew1890.
