Couple paused their vows after hearing a strange ‘snickering’ sound in the woods — what they found when they followed it changed their lives forever
A couple was celebrating their wedding in a wooded area when a strange sound caught everyone’s attention. While exchanging vows in January 2024, Cara and Matt Hamdan heard what sounded like "snickering" coming from their guests, including the bridesmaids and groomsmen. At first, they tried to ignore it, but when the guests began reacting more noticeably to a sound from the woods, the couple grew curious. What they discovered that day turned an ordinary wedding into a story they would never forget.
As reported by Good Morning America on February 16, 2024, the couple shared the story on Instagram and in an interview with the outlet, showing clips from their wedding day. The bride recalled that at first she noticed her bridesmaids snickering and giggling, which she tried to ignore, but then she began hearing laughter from the audience. A groomsman soon poked his head out and looked at them, signaling that something unusual was happening.
The clip then showed a bridesmaid pointing out the reason behind everyone's giggles and the random sound coming from the woods, “There’s a cat meowing,” she shared. Pausing the vows, the groom said, “I have to stop this because of the cat.” Matt recalled that his first instinct was to go into the woods to pet and save the stray cat. The presence of the uninvited guest became the highlight of the evening, with everyone talking about the cat long after the ceremony ended.
The stray cat, later named Daisy, continued to be seen around the wedding venue for days after the ceremony. Matt shared that his family stayed in contact with the caretakers of the cat, feeding her shrimp and slowly gaining her trust. Eventually, they were able to capture her and take her to a nearby shelter. "We were actually on our honeymoon when one of the sisters sent us an email, being like, we got the cat, we dropped her off at a shelter down the road, this is the contact information."
About a month later, Cara and Matt officially adopted Daisy and welcomed her to their home. The couple spoke about the instant connection they shared, with Cara saying, “When we first took her home, we immediately felt like we bonded with Daisy, like right off the bat, the drive home, she was just so cuddly.” Daisy quickly settled in with the family, including their other pet cat, Gatsby. The couple reflected on how symbolic her arrival felt, especially since their wedding featured cat-themed cake toppers. Matt said, “I don’t really believe in fate… but this kind of feels like she picked us.” The story of Daisy joining the Hamdans’ lives turned from a surprise wedding interruption into a heartwarming story of love and companionship.
