Devastated owner discovers heartbreaking footage of her dog just 16 hours before his passing

Although losing someone dear is incredibly painful, it is an inevitable part of life that is bound to happen. After they are gone, their pictures and videos become cherished memories and the ultimate way of remembering them. Similarly, Alice Hulme (@alicehulme on TikTok), who was grieving the loss of her beloved French Bulldog, Paddington, was overwhelmed when she found heartbreaking footage from the day before he passed away.

In a cozy living room set-up, Hulme was captured walking across the room, while cradling Paddington in her arms, just 16 hours before his demise. Meanwhile, the adorable dog kept licking Hulme's face, showing how much he loved her. "Nothing can prepare you for the pain of losing a dog," read the overlay text as the bittersweet moment played on the screen. Moreover, revealing more about the special bond that Hulme shared with Paddington, the mourning pet parent wrote, "I miss him so much it hurts," in the caption.

Notably, in response to queries, Hulme revealed in the comments that she lost Paddington to heart failure. She shared, "He collapsed Saturday morning and we thought it was (Intervertebral disc disease) IVDD related. We rushed him to the vets and they did a CT scan and said he had heart failure & wouldn't get any better. It was such a shock." The now-popular TikTok video resonated with several dog owners who also shared their personal stories. For instance, reacting to the video, @stephandbeau commented, "Sorry for your loss. I lost my baby Beau on Thursday morning. He was my entire world for 12 years. The grief is absolutely suffocating, never known anything like it." @bambilove._ wrote, "I felt this. I lost my bully dog on January 6th this year unexpectedly from fits. She took her last breath in my arms. She was only 2 years old, one of the hardest things I ever had to go through."

Similarly, @karenrosieseaglass commented, "So so sorry for your loss. I lost my little Olive in September to lymphoma my heart is still utterly broken." @buddy07775 commented, "We endure a lifetime of missing them for the privilege of loving them, a love like no other." On the other hand, @charattenborrow, another pet parent commented, "Sorry for your loss! I know the feeling, I lost my Frenchie in start of October." Meanwhile, talking to Newsweek, Hulme shared that Paddington passed away just a week before his 4th birthday. When the doctor told them that the dog would not get any better, Hulme and her husband had no other choice than to put Paddington to sleep.

"We said our goodbyes and we let him go. We have another French bulldog, Chester, who we took into the vets to see Paddington after he had been put to sleep, so he understood he was not coming home. It was heartbreaking," Hulme added. Moreover, Hulme revealed that after Paddington’s death, she and her husband checked the pet camera to see if they had missed anything but what they discovered instantly brought them to tears. "My husband and I were going through the doggy cam to see if we could see anything we missed the previous day before he collapsed," she added.
