In a touching video, a golden retriever excitedly sprints to its grandmother’s house. Shared by Maggie Comerford, who goes by @maggie_comerford97 on TikTok, the video showed how her dog, Sully, ran to his grandmother’s house to spend the whole day playing, not just with his grandma but mainly with her dog, Fletcher. Published on July 8, the adorable clip has garnered 3.8 million views and 630,000 likes on TikTok so far.

According to Newsweek, Comerford and her mother always discussed having another dog, but due to her long working hours, she kept delaying the arrival of a companion. Then one day, after a deep discussion, her mother came up with some handy solutions. For instance, Comerford's mom would have to pet the dog while she was out working and vice versa. The plan seemed workable to both ladies, and finally, Comerford was encouraged by her mother to adopt a pup. She named him Sully. Her mother already had a golden retriever, Fletcher, and she always wanted her daughter to have a companion who could support her on days when work gets overwhelming. So, having another golden retriever was the best choice, and with Sully’s entry, their family was finally complete.

Three years later, Sully has now learned to adjust to Maggie’s job and, on top of that, enjoys his little trips to meet Fletcher. The two dogs are always found cuddling together, enjoying each other’s company. Maggie shared that every time he reaches her mother’s house, he lets out a deep cry of excitement because he knows that the day will be spent with toys, trips to the dog park, and cuddling with Fletcher. "Yeah, my baby goes to his grandma's while I'm at work too," Comerford captioned the video.

The video invited love from all over the internet. Thousands of people commented on Maggie’s post, which went viral in a few days. Some even asked for another video showing Sully’s reaction when he’s picked up from his grandmother's house, probably seeming less excited to leave Fletcher behind. “Can we see him getting picked up?” asked @briightteyes. “We need to normalize this! My mom moved in with us last month. Now my dogs are living their absolute best life with grandma at home all day. Watching Perry Mason eating snacks and napping,” shared @susieqco95. Another user @nickey0409 chimed in, “My dad used to pick mine up while I worked, they waited by the door for a hike at 9 am. He passed, and they still wait for him.”

Comerford, 28, hails from Decatur, Illinois. She works full-time and creates fun content online for her audience. To increase her engagement, she shared another video of picking up Sully from his grandmother's house. The golden retriever appeared ecstatic to meet its owner. According to a study, Social determinants of health and disease in companion dogs: a cohort study from the Dog Aging Project, dogs' health improved significantly when they accompanied other dogs. The study surveyed 21,410 dogs and identified five factors that either improved or worsened the canines' health. Factors surrounding financial and home adversity were found to be linked with poorer health in dogs. While factors that supported social companionship among dogs increased their physical activity, indicating improved health. Sully's happy sprint to and fro his grandmother's house showed how healthy and equally happy he is to be in the company of Fletcher and his owner.
