Dog mom hid her pregnancy test to surprise her husband — until their service dog’s touching act revealed it in an unforgettable way

Sometimes, life’s most important moments don’t go as planned, and that’s exactly what happened to Jaime Simpson, also known as @embracingecho, when she tried to share her pregnancy news with her husband. Hoping for a sweet and memorable reveal, Jaime had been preparing for the right moment to tell Ruben they were expecting their second child. But before she got the chance, someone else stepped in to share the news instead. While the moment was unexpected, it was nothing short of special. 

As reported by Newsweek, Jaime commented on the announcement, sharing how she “wanted it to be special." But Echo, trained to assist Jaime with medical needs due to epilepsy and postural tachycardia syndrome, unintentionally stole the spotlight. In a video shared on TikTok, Ruben walked into the room and was greeted by Echo, holding Jaime’s positive pregnancy test in his mouth. “I was planning on telling Ruben the news later that night or the next day, but Echo likes to share things,” she said. Jaime added with a laugh that he "made it special on his own.”

Though the surprise didn’t go as she imagined, Jaime said Ruben wasn’t upset, just shocked. “I was worried he’d be upset that I wasn’t the one to tell him. He wasn’t upset, but definitely shocked at the news. He thought it was funny that Echo told him.” Jaime also shared that Echo may have known something was going on before she did. “He would lay his head on my stomach like in my last pregnancy. He’s part of the reason I took a test.” Echo is trained to detect changes in her health, including seizures, but this time, it seemed he picked up on her changing hormones. According to experts cited by The Bump, dogs have an incredible sense of smell and can detect hormonal changes early in pregnancy. Rachel Barrack, a certified veterinary, shared, "Dogs have an extremely sensitive and strong sense of smell. A large part of their brain is used to detect scent, [so] they’re able to sniff out bombs, drugs, cancer, insulin, and even hormonal changes." 

Looking back, Jaime sees the moment as a golden memory. “Now that the secret is out, I can share this very awkward golden moment caught on our home camera,” she wrote in the caption. She further joked, "Looks like Echo is not a very good secret keeper because he definitely found his own sneaky way to spill the beans." Echo’s excitement and instinct turned an ordinary day into an unforgettable one. The heartwarming response from TikTok users only added to the joy. @ashlykelly89 wrote in the comment section, "I watched this so many times. This is the cutest thing ever. Congratulations."

While @nikki.35.87 pointed out, "Wait, this dog watched [sic] you take the test, understood that the results were good, grabbed the test from your hiding spot, hid it from you all so they could be the one to tell dad." Jaime then expressed her gratitude for the loving response. “So many people have sent messages of support and congratulations. I want to send a thank you to everyone who has sent such kind words.”
