This AI-powered collar might save your dog's life, and you won’t even notice it until it does.

From calculators and LED lights to mobile phones and self-driving cars, high-tech innovations are everywhere, and imagining a life without them is just impossible. To add to the list of countless smart solutions, Fi, the pet tech company, has come up with an AI collar that allows pet parents to track their dogs' movements, health, and habits through their Apple Watch.

Launched on June 2, 2025, the Fi Series 3 Plus comes with unique behavior detection features, improved GPS tracking, and, of course, Apple Watch app integration, reports Business Wire. The pet tech company believed that the special device is designed to capture insightful changes in a dog's behavior with 80% accuracy. Their intention, perhaps, is to basically help dog owners be more aware of possible alarming changes in their pet's health. Besides tracking steps and their sleep cycle, Fi's new AI collar can also monitor your dog's barking, licking, scratching, eating, and even drinking habits to identify any concerning red flags leading to fatal health issues. "Our technology is pushing the limits of what your dog’s collar can do. With Series 3 Plus, we are also releasing our best GPS yet, which can make the difference between life and death if your dog escapes," Jonathan Bensamoun, the founder and CEO of Fi, shared

Another significant element that makes the world's first AI-powered smart dog collar extraordinary is the document analysis feature. Well, the special feature uses AI to read and understand the uploaded documents, like vet records, bills, or even insurance papers, to enhance your pet's health profile. Further, the report claims that the waterproof collar with a battery life that can sustain up to three months is suitable for 24/7 usage and is available in multiple colors (blue, gray, yellow and pink), allowing a range of collections for owners to choose from.

While most dog owners go above and beyond to ensure their pet's well-being, some not-so-evident symptoms hinting at serious illness often go unnoticed. This is something that veterinarians say is lethal for a dog, as the presence of prolonged abnormality in their body can lead to something very serious. Dr. Jeff Werber said, "One of the biggest challenges we face as veterinarians is when dog parents bring their dogs in only after a small issue has turned into something serious. Fi Series 3+ gives owners the ability to spot subtle changes in their dog’s behavior — whether it’s a drop in activity, changes in drinking, or increased scratching. That means dog parents can catch potential health issues before they become visible, critical, or irreversible. It’s a game changer for proactive care."

Now, this AI-powered collar can be helpful, especially for dogs with behavioral issues. According to Psychology Today, a study by Mills et al. found that at least a third of all referred cases to veterinary behaviorists have some kind of painful condition that contributes to their behavioral issues. So, paw-rents with such dogs might use this Fi's collar to detect any potential health threats that can be dealt with.
