Dog raised by cats unwittingly picks up their habits and it's beyond adorable

A dog behaving like a cat? It might sound bizarre until you meet Opie... this dog shows what's it like to be raised by felines.

Remember how Mowgli, the central character from "The Jungle Book," picked up wolf-like traits after being raised by them? What if we told you, something similar happened to a dog who was raised by cats? Sounds like some random comparison right? But, guess what? It's actually a true story. In a recent video posted on Opie the Land Seal's (@justopiethings) official Instagram page, a pet parent shared what their dog, Opie, "picked up on from being raised by cats."

Although most dogs usually prefer to sleep on the ground or comfortable furniture like couches and beds, Opie rests on the sofa's armrest, just like the cats. The owner shared a glimpse of the adorable dog lounging peacefully on a tiny bed, likely meant for the cats, while the text overlay read, "If I fit, I sit." Further, the video also highlighted the beautiful bond that Opie shares with the cats as he was captured "grooming other cats." Another significant trait Opie picked up from the cats is their way of greeting people. Instead of the typical dogs who wag their tails, Opie gently rubs his body against people, just like the felines. Apart from that, the dog also enjoys a little alone time which is very unlikely for dogs. "He’s a special boy," the dog owner shared in the caption, highlighting Opie's unique nature.

Meanwhile, reacting to the video, @goldenxmoon888 commented, "My sister's dog lies down on the back of the sofa (if that makes sense). I have never seen dogs do that besides dogs raised around cats, so I like to think she learned that from my cat before he passed away." Similarly, @acornandherleaf wrote, "Oh my golly gosh! Yes, it’s the full-body rubs that get me! Leaf throws her entire body against our legs in greeting now because she’s watched little Acorn do it! It’s adorable and heavy if it catches you off guard! Dogs raised by cats are elite!" @expect_respect wrote, "He is the cutest angel! All of them were hilarious but most of all the body-rubbing greeting! Never seen a dog do that before haha!" @saylor.carla wrote, "We had a dog many years ago raised by our two cats. He learned to growl softly when petted. His form of purring! It scared most people at first, but it became such a delightful thing as they came to know him!"

@za_broken_directioner commented, "I own a two-year-old Shih Tzu and he has been raised from a puppy with two cats. He’s best friends with the oldest and every day I see little tricks and traits he’s picked up from the cats and vice versa with the oldest one." @theecosmicgoddess wrote, "I am glad my dog isn’t the only one with a lot of cat habits. At this point I think she assumes she is just a very large cat instead." @jirafa_rubia wrote, "My dog is an only child but she sits on armrests of sofas, climbs high, liks her paw to wash her face. Many tiny dogs behave like that." @acg194 commented, "Pitties definitely have unusual habits. But I have found they are the most loving loyal dogs unlike their reputation. And they do not like being cold."
