Dog relieved from animal shelter after 730 days — can't keep it together

A dog's luck was finally about to change after two years of being in an animal shelter when Alyssa (u/dogluvr_1) decided to become a foster parent to her. According to Newsweek, Waffles, the adorable dog, came to the animal shelter 730 days ago when she was only a year and a half old. Alyssa had originally shared Waffle's story and a tour of her foster home on her Reddit account. Newsweek further reports, "She came in with her daughter after managing to escape a backyard breeder in the area, the shelter told foster parent Alyssa. Her pup has since been adopted."

Alyssa had first seen a post regarding Waffles on Facebook on 25th June, which made her decide to be her foster parent in an instant. Waffle's life was able to turn around, and she was able to break free from the animal shelter due to Alyssa's kind-hearted decision.
Alyssa shared the details regarding the temporary fostering of Waffles on her Reddit account (u/dogluvr_1) with the caption, "Meet Waffles. After spending 730 days in the shelter, she's finally getting a taste of home life." The post grabbed a lot of attention on the internet, resulting in over 4,200 upvotes and 80 comments so far.

Alyssa posted numerous adorable images of Waffles on the post. One, where she is smiling widely while sitting in the backseat of a car; second, where she is enjoying her time with her toys; third, frolicking with her new dog siblings — Boba and Bambi; and lastly, one where she's having a peaceful sleep curled up on Alyssa's bed.

Alyssa further shared with Newsweek, "She has been loving the backyard and all the toys and has been exploring the little doggy pool. She does love to jump with all fours off the ground when we have her toys to throw." The little dog is only being fostered at the moment, but Alyssa hopes she will be able to give her a permanent home. In conversation with Newsweek, she also shared, "We are considering adopting her; we just want to give her some more time to adjust and make sure everything is good with the dogs."
According to a recent report by the National Library of Medicine, foster care significantly improved outcomes for shelter dogs, increasing their chances of live release by about 5 times overall. Moreover, dogs returned from foster care showed a 70% drop in health concerns at intake.
The post was flooded with warm comments from numerous users. u/anonymous-vampire wrote, "Waffles! She looks so happy! Thank you for taking her in." u/alwaysadopt shared their experience, "We pulled a sweet senior last year who was in the shelter system for 920 days and got her adopted within a few months. For everyone asking 'how does that happen' — smaller non-kill shelters sometimes have dogs that are chronically overlooked and all they need is a bit of fostering to bridge them into a forever home."

u/CLNmssy expressed, "Oh my god, she’s so cute." u/Majestic-Ad-1333 commented, "My goodness, Miss Waffles seems to be catching up on those 730 days of missed fun and love. This warms my heart. Hooray for waffles!"
