Dog walker’s goodbye turns into a ‘hostage situation’— and we’re all suffering from Stockholm syndrome

Dogs have an uncanny ability to form bonds with anyone and everyone. Unlike most humans, all they want to fall head-over-heels for someone is just a few quality moments spent together. For instance, meet Helen Carlette (@helen.carlette on TikTok), a dog walker who shared a beautiful moment when a dog stepped up to the door as if pleading for just a little more time together.

In the heartwarming TikTok video, part-time dog walker Carlette was about to leave after walking her client when she was utterly surprised to find the adorable canine already at the door as if pleading for her to stay longer. Even after much convincing, the dog didn't budge from her place. "I have to go! I am going to come back! I have to walk you again," Carlette spoke as the dog came running towards her with a wagging tail. Further, when the dog walker moved closer to the door, she was immediately blocked by the dog, making it crystal clear that she wasn't allowed to leave the house.
"I have to go. I will be back in a couple of hours," Carlette spoke again, only to be shut down by the dog's soft howls. Simultaneously, the overlay text on the screen read, "You became a part-time dog walker, and now your client is holding you hostage." Moreover, reflecting more on the precious moment, the dog owner revealed, "Not me arguing with her. I walked her one time, and now she's overly attached!" in the video caption.
Meanwhile, reacting to the TikTok video, @eracyberpunk commented, "That poor dog is lonely; they need to get another dog to help her!" @itskattoria, who seemed a little concerned about the dog's behavior, assumed, "That poor baby doesn’t get any love from her parent/parents. She’s crying. They should just let you adopt her. She wants to be loved!" Similarly, @emmaa.barrows suggested, "You need to give that dog a few treats scattered around the house before you leave. That way he’s not stressed before you go." @cynthiad2 wished, "I’m praying the owner sees this post because everyone wants their dog to love the people who are watching over them." @sirwalterwinston revealed, "I always leave the TV on or music on for pups between my visits. It helps them feel less alone. It also distracts them from the front door while I escape."

@solrsys suggested, "Give a treat as you’re leaving. They will associate your leaving with a positive thing, and it will become a routine. She is leaving, and I hate that, but I get something good." @lyrakl shared, "The times I have cried leaving some dogs, knowing their loving families are coming home in 20 minutes." @trinnybinni wrote, "I hope he just loves you, and it’s not because you are the only person that ever gives him attention like this." @nicholebp2001 shared, "This happens to me. I have to run as the family screams, 'JUST LEAVE,' and he tries to run after me." On the other hand, @tamara.jhay shared, "I would've just sent this video to the owner like, Yeah, she's hanging out with me for the rest of the day. I'll have her back by curfew." @cb_honeybe wrote, "You take that baby with you right now. The owner will just have to understand."
