Dog was scheduled to be euthanized. Then a desperate last-minute call from an angel saved Brownie's life

Euthanasia or 'mercy killing', as per the National Library of Medicine, refers to the painless act of killing an individual or an animal suffering from a fatal or prolonged disease. Though often seen as an empathetic and compassionate means of relieving unbearable pain, euthanasia remains highly controversial. Many people, across the globe, stand firmly against this popular practice of killing, especially for the abandoned animals, often giving those innocent creatures a second chance at life. Similarly, a woman, Thao, who goes by @thaobit on Instagram, stepped up just in time to rescue an adorable 4-year-old dog, Brownie, who was scheduled to be euthanized.

Thao explained that "Lend A Bone Rescue," a non-profit organization rescuing dogs at risk of euthanasia, terminated the government's plan to kill Brownie, and the canine was immediately brought to the woman's house. Surprisingly, the minute Brownie entered Thao's house, she instantly felt at ease, snuggling up to her, as if they had known each other for years. Eventually, Brownie also befriended other dogs at her new house, hinting at her gentle and welcoming nature. "Climbed into bed, resting her head on me, as if she always belonged here," Thao shared, revealing how Brownie's accepting personality made her rescue even more heartwarming. Further, talking about how the dog immediately adapted to her new life, the woman wrote, "Brownie arrived at 10:30 pm. In bed by midnight. No decompression, fear, trust, or anxiety. You’d think these videos were made in a span of days. She made herself right at home," in the comments.
While Brownie was lucky to have someone rescue her in time, countless pups like her are forcibly put to sleep daily. As per a shocking report by Shelter Animals Count, around 400,000, i.e, 13% of dogs that enter shelters across the United States are euthanized every year. But, why do shelter homes, meant for the protection of vulnerable and weak animals, take the cruel road of euthanasia? Well, animals, especially those abandoned because of health complications or old age, often end up in shelter homes where they are put up for adoption. Since not every homeless animal is adopted, shelter homes, to prevent the liability of long-term maintenance, often have a standard waiting period before any animal is put up for euthanasia.
Further, the report also estimated that every single minute, one animal faces abuse in the United States alone. Moreover, as per the study, approximately 10 million animals die from abuse or cruelty across the country. With the increase in pet ownership around the globe and a rise in people accepting abandoned pets, hopefully, animal cruelty will significantly decline soon. Meanwhile, reacting to Thao's Instagram reel, @pupppstar commented, "Seeing her survive and be so loved is one of the most beautiful things ever. I’m so happy for her beautiful new life." Likewise, another user who goes by @mountain_mutt__adventures said, "That’s so nice to see! Thank you for saving her!" On the other hand, @whitney_vision wrote, "So so so beautiful; her soul is already blooming. Thank you so much!"
