Dog who hates baths bravely steps into the shower to comfort his crying owner in a touching moment

A dog is a human’s best friend, and an owner just proved it. It is believed that pets are very emotionally attuned to their human and often understand what they are going through. Laurel, a pet owner, shares heartwarming posts with her soul dog, Yukon, on the page, @laurelbakerkang. Recently, she has touched the internet with a tender moment shared as her furry friend overcomes his fear of baths to offer comfort to his beloved human. People acknowledged the post with similar accounts of their pets’ true companionship.

The clip with 21 million views showcased a concerned Yukon wobbling his way into the shower to accompany her owner. Laurel filmed as her pet dog slipped and tumbled into the tub after reportedly hearing her crying in the shower. She stood quietly, laughing at her pawed pal’s antics and marveled at Yukon’s sheer love for her. The pet owner claimed that her dog hated baths, but did not hesitate to hop in when he sensed his human was sad.

“Thinking about when my mental health was at its worst and Yukon (who hates baths with his whole soul) climbed into the tub while I was crying in the shower and…” she penned in an overlay note. “Made me laugh for the first time in months.” The pet sat down in the tub, glaring at Laurel with his puppy dog eyes. Meanwhile, she could not stop crying-laughing and fed him a piece of the strawberry shortcake popsicle she was apparently eating in the shower as a treat. Yukon did not budge from the shower until his pet owner had calmed down. “50/50 whether or not he just wanted the strawberry shortcake popsicle,” the caption mused.
The post received 6.9 million likes and thousands of reactions from people in the comments. “Y’all see how his eyes lit up and his ears perked when you started laughing. He probably missed your laugh so much,” said @goth_bimbo420, and @spookyboo401 noted, “His love for you was stronger than his fear; he was willing to be there for you.” “My soul dog has many times literally licked my tears as I cried. We really don’t deserve dogs,” shared @spookyana89. Similarly, a cat owner (@mandarinesugarcane) recalled, “My cat, before she passed away, saw me collapsing and sobbing on the floor. She could barely move, but she somehow ran to me, started purring. Still crying about it today, she was sweet.”

Pets, particularly dogs and cats, are highly attuned to human emotions and often react to them in their own way. Therefore, when a pet owner shows signs of sadness or depression, the empathy and unconditional love for them prompts the pet to offer their human comfort and company, per Northeast Animal Hospital. Just as humans take note of their pets' behaviors, even the latter do the same to our actions to determine the "energy" using their acute sense of smell, per Banyan Mental Health. This is also one of the primary reasons why humans are so attached to their animals and treat them like any other family member.
