Dog with bow tie has the most over-the-top reaction after strangers on a train snub him
Meet Gilbert, an adorable pooch who loves the attention it gets. In a hilarious video, shared by its owner (@thatweirdboatgirl on TikTok), Gilbert was captured trying to get people to pet it on the train but was visibly sad when no one paid attention. The wholesome video has won hearts on social media, surpassing over a million views online.
"Nobody wants to pet Gilbert even though he's got his best bow tie on," read the onscreen text, as the canine struggled to win the attention of passengers with its pleading eyes. With its tail wagging continuously, Gilbert even moved a little looking at people as if literally asking them to pet it. Reflecting on the moment, the dog's mom wrote, "He is sad," in the video caption. Meanwhile, reacting to the video, @kavijo commented, "Not to be dramatic but I would die for Gilbert." @dakota wrote, "No, please, I will pet Gilbert voluntarily. His bow tie makes him look even more of a cutie if that's possible." Similarly, @jemmaanderson wrote, "Get him a little coat or harness that says 'please say hello!' or something so that people know he's friendly." @lauren_nifhearain wrote, "I would pet every dog in the world but I usually don’t as I don’t know if the owners would be happy for me to. I also don’t know the dog and wouldn’t want to make it nervous."
@gazster83 wrote, "I wouldn't ignore any dog that looks for a bit of attention. People must have been blind or glued to their phones." @theryanfanclub wrote, "OMG! he looks so good in his bow tie. Please tell me this did not knock his confidence and he still feels like he can wear it? if I ever see him I will pet him so much." @andy wrote, "Great...now I have to travel to London and ride the Tube in the hopes of finding Gilbert in his bow tie, so that I may show him the love he deserves. The boss won't be happy but needs must!" @helengenx wrote, "Some people don't like their dogs touched, plenty of posts with trainers saying don't do It. I just talk to the dog might look crazy but you're not going to get shouted at. Hello Gilbert!"

Talking to Newsweek, Gilbert's owner, Shannon, revealed that it was just 10 weeks old when she got the dog home. "He's honestly such a people dog, he loves cuddles and being on laps," Shannon added. Gilbert loves traveling via train because it usually gets a lot of attention. Shannon revealed, "I actually started filming as I expected the woman on the right to pet him but she didn't. He has such a personality and can get quite sulky! I think he genuinely was upset that nobody was giving him attention" Interestingly, in another TikTok video, Gilbert was once again seen on the train, wearing its best coat and hoping that somebody would pet it. But just like the last time, the dog was left utterly disappointed when no one on the train fell for its charm.
