Ask any pet parent, and they will tell you how much they worry about who will care for their babies once they are gone. In most cases, their family step in, providing the best possible life for the pets, but, unfortunately, many innocent animals are abandoned soon after their primary caregiver passes away, forcing them to face the world alone. Similarly, when Kristi D. Johnson Fam's (@kristidjohnsonfam on Instagram) mother, a cancer patient, learned about her diagnosis, her biggest fear was leaving her beloved cat behind with no one to look after her once she was gone. However, shortly after her demise, her hospice nurse, Wendy, who loved Kristi's mother to death, came forward, doing something so incredible that it left everyone on the internet sobbing.

"When my mom was dying of cancer, her hospice nurse did the most outrageous thing," Kristi shared, explaining how Wendy grew fond of her mother during the one year she spent taking care of her. Kristi's mother, who equally loved Wendy and the other nurses, cooked for them, even when she didn't feel well. Finally, the unfortunate day arrived, and Kristi's mother lost her battle to cancer. "Her kitchen was dark for the first time. There was Buzz... and he was sad too," Kristi revealed. However, when Wendy heard that Buzz was desperately looking for a loving home, she immediately stepped in, taking the adorable cat and giving him a second chance at life.

"And then she started sending me Buzz's updates," Kristi said, sharing how Wendy kept updating her about their family cat for years. "I know my mom can rest easy knowing Buzz is so loved," she added, expressing her heartfelt gratitude to her mother's nurse. Remember, Buzz was lucky to get someone who loved and adored him like his late owner, but not all pets experience that. As reported by the National Cremation, every year, around 5-7 million animals enter shelter homes after the death of their owners. The report further claims that around 60% of dogs are put to sleep when adequate housing for them is not found.

Meanwhile, the wholesome reel received an outpouring of love on social media, with people praising Wendy, the hospice nurse, for her selfless gesture. For instance, @butterflynurse1 commented, "From one nurse to another, bravo! Above and beyond kindness and loyalty to a lovely patient and their loving family." Likewise, another user who goes by @elizabethcgraziano on Instagram shared, "I work for a hospice in SC and took a patient's beautiful cat in when she passed. Baby got to know me for 1 1/2 years, and we shared a special bond. I want Ms. Sydney to know for the rest of her time on earth that Baby would be loved and cared for. Baby was with her when she took her last breath. I am beyond blessed and honored to have her with us!"

On the other hand, @dogsmy.love revealed, "I’m so sorry for the loss of your mom. 2 years ago, I went through the same thing. I lost my beautiful mother to pancreatic cancer. She had a cat named Meowie. I knew I couldn’t take her. It was the worst feeling, wondering where she would end up. Thankfully, my daughter had taken her. She swears my mom visits her beloved Meowie sometimes. I’m so happy that Buzz has a beautiful life."
