Ever wonder why dogs follow you to the bathroom? Woman cries her eyes out after discovering the answer
Dogs are known to be the most loyal and loving companions who never leave their owners, trying to protect them from all possible dangers. Whether you are relaxing on the couch or taking a stroll around the block, your furry friend with a wagging tail will always be by your side. But have you ever wondered why your dog follows you even to the bathroom? Well, a pet parent who runs the TikTok account @chappie.goldenretriever revealed that her pooch, Chappie, follows her to the bathroom to protect her. Despite the woman's constant warnings, the adorable golden retriever would stand like a warrior outside the bathroom door.
"So I just finished crying because I learned a fact about everyone's dogs. You are going to want to hear this. So, you know when you're trying to go to the bathroom and they keep trying to nose their way in, or they're always standing at the door," the woman began seemingly overwhelmed with emotions. She further revealed that apparently, wolves and wild dogs protect each other when they go for defecation. "Because when you go to the bathroom you are vulnerable, so they like to stand guard. They will be next to you, to make sure that no one attacks you," she added.
The pet parent, clearly touched with emotion, couldn’t help but chuckle as she affectionately called Chappie her "Angel." While the woman shared the reason, she captured glimpses of the lovely golden retriever resting on the floor. The wholesome TikTok video received an amazing response with over 1 million views online. The video resonated with many other dog owners who shared their experiences with pets. For instance, @vermilya8 wrote, "It’s also when they use the bathroom and they look at you while doing it, they are hoping you are protecting them." @desireekimmel commented, "Yep. I'm lucky to be able to get up off the potty because my dog lays on my feet. She's an Aussie (blue merle), and they are very protective. I love her so much."
Similarly, @jmoe commented, "They do look oddly vulnerable when pooping. No lie. And kinda look at you like, 'You got me?'" Meanwhile, @cory wrote, "Same logic why they often look at their owner when they go. Watching if you signal harm is near while they’re vulnerable." On the other hand, @doktor_kotwica shared another astonishing fact about dogs and wrote, "Well! So this will blow your mind, when your dog is taking a drop he's looking at you to see if nothing bad is going on behind you and when you look at him he thinks that you are doing the same."

Similarly, in another story of faithfulness, a five-year-old dog, Kelsey, saved her owner Bob when he was trapped in freezing snow on New Year’s Eve. The man out in -4°C temperature, broke his neck while collecting firewood. Struggling in the harsh weather, Bob began to slip into hypothermia. This was when Kelsey came to his rescue. Hearing her master's cry, the golden retriever jumped into action.
She kept him warm by lying on top of him, licking his face and hands to keep him alert and barking relentlessly asking for help. After almost 8 hours, her persistent barking alerted a neighbor, who rushed Bob to the hospital. Doctors were stunned to note Kelsey’s actions in saving Bob’s life, as his body temperature had dropped dangerously low.
