Florida couple temporarily rescue stray cat from freezing temperatures — only to end up adopting her

You don't have to make overtly grand gestures to change someone's life. Often, all it takes to make someone happy and comfortable is just some small, thoughtful gestures. Likewise, when Jenna Caitlyn Day (@jenna.dayyy on TikTok) and her partner saw a stray cat freezing outside, they brought the adorable feline inside their home, offering her a safe place. What initially was supposed to be a temporary stay for the cat, eventually became her forever home.

In the now-viral TikTok video, the stray cat was captured all cuddled up on the couch, inside a warm blanket. While Day quietly recorded the precious moment, her partner sat beside the cat, gently caressing her head. "We brought the neighborhood cat inside because it's freezing temperatures in Florida and she's experiencing love and a heated blanket for the first time," the onscreen text read. The cat looked so comfortable that it looked like she had been living in the same house for years. The video received an amazing response on social media with several people appreciating the Florida couple for their sweet gesture. 

For example, @mhandabosarge commented, "That sweet little face. Please don't let her go back to the cold, heartless streets. She's had a tiny glimpse into living in paradise compared to her current living conditions, it's making me so sad!" @michimeow_green commented, "I took in a big dog that was just thrown in my neighborhood. He was very scared. once it got less cold he went back outside and we left food and water outside for him. Don't want to stress him." Similarly, @mrsfullsenki wrote, "We did this to our neighbor's cat. They didn't feed him and they were always away. They even forgot about him, when we told them, we searching for him, they asked 'Who? Oo the black cat. Nah we didn't see him.'" @kindnessisnotweakness1 wrote, "Aww! She looks like she has been there her whole life. thank you for doing this for her. I'm in Fort Myers and it's even cold down here. We had freezing rain today."

@claudiarenae26 wrote, "She is no longer the neighborhood cat…you now have a beautiful fur baby." @ecq33 wrote, "This is how I adopted three indoor cats and have three outside ferals who are all vaccinated and TNR’d. I couldn’t coax the outside ones in before the snow hit but they had heated cat houses!" On the other hand, @colorsofthewind07 wrote, "I did this too for my female cat, but I'm so so sad to let her go back outside. I wish I could keep her but I already have 5 (3 of which are her babies) and I literally have no room left." @sandrac904 commented, "Thank you for giving her shelter! I’ve been thinking about all the animals who wouldn’t be prepared for the weather." @marisolmarin218 wrote, "That kitty is not leaving that’s her house now I end up with 8 cats and I was just rescuing them."

Meanwhile, Day shared another TikTok video revealing that they decided to adopt the neighborhood cat and named her Peaches. "Her name is Peaches and she is here to stay," she revealed. Further, Day urged people to help them pay for the cat's food and medical expenses while the screen played adorable glimpses of Peaches bonding with her new family.
