A heartwarming clip depicting a dog's heroic act recently surfaced on the internet, leaving everyone smiling from ear to ear. The pet dog jumps into the water without thinking twice, after spotting its owners on a boat, assuming they needed help, even though they were safe. The clip, originally posted by u/Early_Solution1851, has garnered countless views thanks to the dog's bravery and unwavering dedication.

The overlay text on the clip details the rather funny incident. "My dog thought we were stranded and needed help...so she came to rescue us." The footage shows a loyal German Shepherd, Ellie, swimming toward a stranded family on a boat, acting purely on instinct. Moved by the dog’s unexpected response, the owner is saying, "All right, she's coming to rescue us." The mother waited eagerly to see what their dog was capable of as she told her kids to "hang on", while the pooch kept swimming towards them.

And, the expected happens, as Ellie grabs the attached rope in her mouth and begins pulling the family to shore. The owner screamed in excitement, "Go Ellie!" She added, "She's so strong to pull all of us. There she goes." The clip continues with Ellie successfully bringing the family to the shore and getting a hurrah from her owner. "Whoa! Thank you, Ellie." The family celebrated her efforts and thanked her for "saving their lives", although they never faced any imminent danger.

It's no surprise that dogs hold the reputation for being protective of their families. In another story, a six-year-old dog named Cooper was hailed a hero after swimming through dangerous floodwaters to save a young autistic boy during a devastating flood. The Great Pyrenees-Labrador mix dog was swept away by the water but ended up finding the boy, who was clinging to a pole. The boy later said, "This dog saved my life, he swam to me and made me hold on." Cooper stayed by the boy's side until rescuers arrived. A crew member confirmed Cooper was found curled up next to the child, keeping him safe.

According to BCSPCA, dogs are known for 'resource guarding,' which refers to the canine's innate feeling of protecting anything close to them. According to anecdotal evidence, dogs also consider their owners a part of their pack, which makes them extremely loyal and diligent when it comes to rescuing their beloved humans. Numerous internet users also shared warm messages praising Ellie's brave act, saying the brave pet deserves tons of kisses and treats now. u/karensmiles exclaimed, "Bestest lifeguard ever!" While u/ExpressionStill935 wrote, "What a pure and sweet soul, taking such good care of the hoomans!"
