Golden Retriever makes peace with sharing the bed with mom's boyfriend — until he casually replaced her

Just like babies craving undivided attention often feel insecure, particularly when their mothers shift focus to someone else, pets also experience similar emotions. Don't believe us? Well, wait, till you meet an adorable golden retriever, Peanut, who was clearly unhappy sharing the bed with his mother's boyfriend. A recent video, shared by Maxime(@maximevdd on TikTok), a Sports lawyer by profession, captures her dog forcefully third-wheeling her and her "new boyfriend."

In the video, while the couple lay next to each other in bed, the quirky golden retriever positioned himself between them, as if announcing his ultimate importance in the house. Interestingly, the way, the canine glared at his mother's partner made it seem as if he was telling him that he comes first in her Maxime's life. Looking at the hilarious dog being all so jealous, the couple could not hold their emotion and busted out laughing. While the banter unfolded on the screen, the overlay text read, "POV: Your dog is not adjusting well to you sharing your bed with your new boyfriend."

Notably, Maxime's boyfriend tried to befriend her dog by gently tapping on his nose while resting one arm around him. Interpreting Peanut's priceless reaction to the situation, the owner wrote, "He must be middle spoon always." in the caption. Additionally, while responding to comments, Maxima shared how her dog would take revenge on her boyfriend at night. She wrote, "My dog used to just kick him repeatedly throughout the night." The now-viral video received a wholesome response on the platform.
For instance, @courtnieolsen commented, "He’s looking at you like 'One of us has to move and it’s not going to be me." @rattyclansr wrote, "When I was dating my wife when I was a teenager my M&D allowed us to sleep together in my double bed because my spaniel would ALWAYS separate us!" Similarly, @shannonbolon commented, "I swear if my senior dog could talk she would say 'Remember when it was just the two of us?' to me daily." @squishymonkey420 commented, "Boy dogs and their mommas, nothing and nobody will come between them. He’s laying his claim." @acdaniel77 wrote, "I have a Great Pyrenees/golden retriever mix and she does this! She loves us both so much but we aren’t allowed to be near each other, and we were together well before we got her!" Similarly, @flxnrex wrote, "He’s like, "Listen, man! A bigger yard with a pool, dog park twice a week, and walkies every single day and this is my spot till then."

Meanwhile, @dropem3 commented, "I thought I was getting a wingman when I got my dog. How naive I was. I got a very determined chaperone." @turnthepaige37 wrote, "Not my golden retriever watching me watch this video, giving me the worst side-eye. He's like 'Don't get any ideas.'" @paulmccluskey9711 wrote, "This is so familiar, my Labradors used to do the same thing until my then-girlfriend started feeding them treats." On the other hand, @courtneyhirte commented, "My wife and I have been married for ten years. Got ‘her’ dog two years ago and this happens every night. He’s a black lab named Harley. I have nit snuggled my wife for 7 years." @kayliegibbs93 wrote, "The first time someone else slept in my bed, my dog laid over my throat and spent half the night doing low growls randomly and would always move to cover me."
