Growing up with pets is like having a best friend who would never judge, always listen, and love you unconditionally. From endless games of mischief to silent moments of comfort, childhood pets create long-lasting memories of pure joy and happiness. Similarly, Kris Hui (@sanfrankrisco on Instagram), 26, posted beautiful footage of the day she first brought her adorable dog, Elvis, home, and the internet can't stop crying.

The heartwarming Instagram reel began with an endearing scene—each time Hui did a push-up, her loving 16-year-old puppy, sitting beside her, received a sweet kiss. While the precious scene unfolded on the screen, the overlay text read, "We were 26 and 16 years old. But once we were..." Further, Hui took a trip down memory lane, sharing a touching throwback of her 9-year-old self as she welcomed the then 8-week-old Elvis home. It was 2007 when a casual visit to the mall pet shop unexpectedly changed Hui's life forever. What initially was meant to be a simple visitor to look at different breeds of dogs turned wholesome when she found Elvis and walked out with her new companion.

"It was truly love at first sight when we saw our tiny 8-week-old pup! As we exited the mall, we walked past a music store that had a giant poster of Elvis Presley on display. We knew at that moment our new buddy’s name," Hui revealed in the caption. Moreover, she acknowledged how Elvis had seamlessly become an integral part of their lives, describing him as "the greatest thing to happen." Hui also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her childhood best friend for staying healthy and strong for so many years. "You’re a legend and I love you, Elvis," she shared. The video received an overwhelming response on social media, with several grieving pet parents sharing their personal stories about losing their beloved furry companions.

Meanwhile, reacting to the clip, @pris commented, "I just realized at the beginning, that he holds his head a bit higher so you can kiss him better because when you lay down he also lays his head down." @ladyokiloki wrote, "I recently lost my best friend of 14 years last week and I’m completely gutted still. Healing and positive vibes your way." @jim.skar15 shared, "My bestie just passed away. I’m 26 and she was also 16. I had her since she was 8 weeks old but I met her at 3 days old. I miss her so much. I wish love could have been enough to have kept her around forever."

@christopher commented, "I know what you're feeling at the moment and hope you two can enjoy every second there is together. I lost my 16 y.o. Lab this year and it was the most painful feeling for me. But going through that time together helps to comfort the furry one a lot. Cuddles from me!" @cirv wrote, "As a fellow dog mama, I’m in tears. Rest in sweet paradise, Elvis. I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m sure Elvis appreciates everything you did for him and will love you forever." On the other hand, @chase commented, "I’m 27 and I lost my 11-year-old chocolate lab a few months ago. I never knew how much I needed her until she wasn’t here anymore. I’m thankful for the time we had though, hope to see you again soon momma dog."
