Groomer ‘seized’ pregnant woman’s Great Dane after a regular visit — her reason stunned the owner, forcing her to call the cops

When a pet owner sent her two dogs to a new grooming facility, she didn’t expect to later regret it. The woman, months into her pregnancy, claimed she was forced to get the cops involved following the groomer’s questionable behavior of “seizing” her Great Dane without reason. The staff pretended they were protecting the owner from her own dog, but it only made the matter worse. Later, the owner started questioning her reaction when she realized a harsh reality about the business.

In a now-deleted Reddit post under u/putupyourpaws, the pet owner reviewed her stance on the matter, noting the permanent result of the unfortunate situation. She recalled her “crazy” experience began when she chose a new groomer for her pets. She accepted that her dogs were not the best behaved, especially her Great Dane, who had trouble with new dogs. She had informed the groomer about him and taken necessary steps to prevent any altercation with other dogs at the facility. She was eight and a half months pregnant at the time and didn't want to encourage a legal dispute.

“My Great Dane loves people and has been around small children before with no issues, but he is terrified of other dogs," she mentioned in the post with 13,000 votes. Their former groomer had closed down due to the pandemic. The pet owner noted that her large dog “never” hurt another dog but was fearful when one approached. He would bark at the dogs, and his giant dimensions made him seem “very scary” while doing so, per Newsweek. Aware of her pet’s behavior, she booked an extra 30 minutes to prevent her Great Dane from encountering another dog.

However, the new groomer barely heeded the owner’s gesture. Later, when the owner’s husband went to pick up the dogs, he was only handed one–the Corgi. The groomer informed him that their Great Dane was being detained for their safety. “She was 'seizing' the Dane as he had been aggressive to one of her dogs, and as we were expecting a baby, she couldn't give us back a reactive dog," the post disclosed. The couple was baffled but pleaded for seven hours to release their other pet. The groomer was adamant about her stance and forced the owner to call the police to retrieve her dog. In an attempt to teach them a lesson, the pet owner also criticized the business publicly on social media.

"It was the worst experience. I ended up blasting her 'business' on social media...and I think something also happened with the police as all her pages were down the next day." The Reddit user speculated whether her actions had led to the business being shut down completely. The internet stood in solidarity with the pregnant woman and bashed the irresponsible groomer in the comments. “This woman didn’t have the authority to ‘seize’ your dog. If you have to call the police to right the wrong of a ridiculous business owner, you have every right to leave a negative review wherever you please,” wrote u/NUT-me-SHELL, and u/snarkingintheusa said, “She has no business being a dog groomer if this is how she’s going to act.”
