Heartbroken pup clings to everyone after being abandoned — until he found love again

'I don't understand how people can give up their pets. I couldn't even consider abandoning my babies,' one social media user shared.

Unlike humans, animals love unconditionally, without expectation or need. Their love is simple, pure and most importantly, instinctive. Once they fall for you, there is no way they will ever leave you. Unfortunately, some owners don't realize that. At times, when the pet parents fail to take responsibility, they abandon these four-legged babies, shattering their hearts into pieces. But Chapo, an adorable Yorkie mix breed, was built differently. After its owners surrendered the baby at an animal rescue center (@mercyfullproject on TikTok), the pup luckily got a second chance in life. Devoid of love, Chapo loved clinging to everyone who offered him a little love and attention, and the dog eventually found its forever home.

In the heartwarming video, Chapo was captured literally hugging people who let the tiny pup touch them. It was as if Chapo was pleading with them to shower him with some love. Simultaneously, the overlay text on the screen read, "POV: Your owners surrendered you to an animal rescue, so now you cling onto every person that lets you touch them." Moreover, officials of Mercy Full Project, a non-profit organization working for animals, shared, "Chapo is just a baby," in the caption. The TikTok video received an overwhelming response on social media, with many netizens calling out pet owners for abandoning animals without any consideration.

For instance, @babyjulian21 commented, "These stories break my heart. I would never let go of my fur baby. She is my life." Similarly, @bettycompeau wrote, "I hate that people feel they can just throw their pets away. They are our family, not trash!" @user512265794357 shared, "So glad he’s been adopted! He’s just so cute! He just wanted someone to love him." @all_dogs_go_to_heaven7 revealed, "I had 10 small dogs, and 8 of them are now surrounding me. I'd go hungry for them to eat. I'd sleep in my van to keep them. How ppl do this is beyond my comprehension. Happy he has a home where he is loved!" @itsstephanier revealed, "That’s how my Lola is. She was rescued from a shed where she was used for breeding. She still clings to me."

@samlamboy0 shared, "Omg he is so cute. Looks just like my Twilight. I can’t imagine ever giving her up. They are so loving!" @axb626 wished, "SO GLAD Chapo got his forever home! I hope he and his new family have an amazing life together!" @waitwhaaatareyouwatching said, "Oh sweet baby! If he hugged me like this, Chapo would have gone home with me THAT DAY!" @litigatrixx6, who was emotional watching the video, commented, "I am weeping. This is so sad and the dog is just so sweet. I’m so glad he was adopted." @bluebloodedgrl wrote, "Oh my God, that is the cutest freaking dog in the world! I’m so glad he’s been adopted! I imagine it didn’t take long. He’s perfect!"

Glad he has a forever home." @msmel81 shared, "I don't understand how people can give up their pets. I couldn't even consider abandoning my babies." @penelopependerpuddles wrote, "He looks just like my Winston. This broke my heart. I can not imagine having to give my baby up."
