His prank involved her dog: 'Hell hath no fury like a woman whose dog has been scorned'

Garrett Walters, who goes by @gwalters3 on Instagram, always knew Lauren, his girlfriend, loved their golden retriever, Ellie. Their bond surpassed anything words could ever convey. However, he never thought he would actually be the one getting scolded for just playfully teasing the adorable pup. What began as a simple, harmless prank quickly went downhill when Lauren just couldn't let an insult to her furbaby go unnoticed.

Garrett was lying on a couch with Ellie, their dog, on top of him, while Lauren sat a bit further away, hanging on her phone like her life depended on it. Everything appeared normal, just like any happy family would look while chilling together, until Lauren heard something that she just couldn't tolerate. "Will you get off of me, you stupid a** dog?" Garrett said, gently pushing Ellie away. That's it; Lauren heard that insult, and there was no way she wasn't going to do anything about it. With eyes wide open in disbelief, she warned him, "Don't talk to her like that!" But wait, that wasn't enough! Lauren went on to throw a ball right at Garrett, catching him off guard, as he managed to whisper, "It was a joke," while laughing through the pain. "Horrible idea…" he wrote, talking about his 'prank gone wrong' moment.
Thankfully, Garrett was just being a playful prankster, trying to capture his lovely girlfriend's reaction for being mean to their dog. Not everyone is that lucky. A survey found that 1 in 7 dog owners would consider even ditching their spouse or partner if that meant longer life spans for their four-legged babies. Interestingly, that number moves up to 16 percent among Millennials. Moreover, Newsweek, citing the survey by Talker Research, claims that almost half of Gen Y owners assessed said their dogs are better companions than a spouse or partner.
Meanwhile, when Garrett shared the hilarious incident online, the post received an overwhelming response on social media. For instance, @stefferpoo418_ commented, "Sorry, but you deserved it. Ellie knows she’s the smartest pup out there. She even moved so your jewels were showing." A user who goes by @brandi_horne_ on Instagram said, "Aww, the way Ellie looked at Lauren like 'it’s ok, he was kidding,' and then she tried to protect you! That was precious!" On a lighter note, @geeidunno, wrote, "What she did was the least lethal of the ideas she had in mind. Say thank you!"

Similarly, another user, @jessicaderosierwatson, shared, "You crossed a line that should never be crossed. You never, and I repeat, never, joke about a woman’s dog." Echoing the sentiments, @my_cats_jump_out_windows wrote, "Good job, girl! Throw harder next time he 'jokes' about your baby like that." On the other hand, @steiggators revealed, "Hahaha. I talk shit to my dogs ALL the time. I’ll say the meanest things to them in the sweetest voice. They have no idea that they are wagging their tail as I’m asking them if they want me to go dump them on the side of a busy highway and drive away." @stephanieann622 confessed, "I'm with her. If my boyfriend talked to either of my pets like that, I'd want to throw hands, especially if it wasn't a joke, lol!"
