Incredibly funny video shows dog 'sleeping' despite all sounds—until his mom opened one specific item

Most dogs are foodies and their priceless reactions to their favorite treats are just adorable to watch. Meet Duke (@duke.the.malamute on Instagram), the Alaskan Malamute who only responds when he hears his favorite sound—the crackle of a chips packet. Kateryna, his owner, shared a hilarious Instagram reel capturing Duke's reaction to her opening a chips bag.

Duke, who usually just sleeps around in the house ignoring all kinds of noise, instantly wakes up with excitement the moment he hears a chips packet opening. "Dog selective hearing..." read the onscreen text as Kateryna shared a glimpse of Duke sleeping peacefully amidst the loud household noises, including the vacuum cleaner and the hammering of nails into the wall. But the moment, Kateryna takes out the chips packet, Duke wakes up in a blink of an eye and sits there demanding his favorite snack. "You gotta pay the tax now!" read the onscreen text, interpreting the dog's reaction. Reflecting more about Duke's selective hearing skills, Kateryna wrote, "Everything changes when he hears the sound of a chip bag," in the video caption. 

The video quickly went viral on social media with over 4 million views. Several pet parents also resonated with Duke's reaction and shared their personal experiences. But when Kateryna took the first bite, Duke woke up and placed himself on the sofa, beside her. With pleading eyes, the dog looked at his owner as if asking her to share the food with him.
