When Nick Belcher lost his beloved dog, Lucy, he believed that no other pup could ever fill the void she had left behind. However, exactly a year later, fate brought a wagging tail knocking on his door, giving him a reason to be happy again. Chelsea, Nick's wife (@chelsearaebelcher on TikTok), shared the beautiful moment when he found Daisy, perhaps a stray dog whom he believed was a sign from Lucy, who healed his grieving heart in ways that words can't suffice.

When Lucy, Nick's 'best friend', passed, he promised to never get another dog until one finds their way to him. Interestingly, he stayed true to his promise for an entire year, but everything changed when Nick met Daisy, a fragile, scared, and possibly hungry dog, wandering in a hilly field. Noticing the little puppy in distress, Nick got out of his car and gently tossed some food her way, watching her from a safe distance. Once Nick knew that he had successfully earned Daisy's trust, he went near her, giving her some water to drink. "He tells me all the time Lucy sent him to her. She brought back the joy that he lost when we lost Lucy. She healed a part of him he didn't think he'd get back," Chelsea shared. Eventually, the couple adopted the dog, Daisy, making her a part of their family and giving her the life every furball deserves.

Just like Nick, someone who actually loves their pets and considers them far beyond just animals, losing them isn't easy. In fact, when a pet dies, most owners experience grief similar to losing a human companion, the National Library of Medicine reports. This, perhaps, explains why Nick went through a difficult phase after losing Lucy. Meanwhile, the heartwarming video received an overwhelming response on social media, leaving netizens smiling through tears. For instance, @kays commented, "It’s been five months, and I have said no more because I just can’t take the heartbreak again. I hope this dog helps heal your hearts." Echoing the sentiments, @jane wrote, "I love this! We just lost our Katie Bug yesterday. We had her for 15 years. My husband already said not to mention another one to him. I said I wouldn’t. And I won’t until the time is right. I miss you, Katie!"

A user who goes by @txbirdy revealed, "After I lost my Luna, it took some time to get another. I literally told my partner, 'Hey, I think I’m ready to adopt a dog again.' The next day, my partner finds my Leia at a Target, and the rest is history." Similarly, @kristioliver818 shared, "Lucy sent him her heart back! This made me cry! Dogs are a soul that can’t be explained. This is a sweet video!" Another user, @vernondi, revealed, "I said the same thing when my beautiful, most perfect girl Ari left this earth after 13 years (she was almost 18!). She hasn’t sent me another, so she’s still my one and only!" @lisahathcock1970 commented, "Nothing better than the day they wander into our hearts! They appreciate all the things they never had until they found their family! I've been blessed to be the recipient of many! God bless you."
