Most parents would willingly risk their lives without a second thought to safeguard their children—and for pet owners, that instinct is no different. Rightfully so, because for them these animals aren't just their pets but an integral part of their family. And in case of any unfortunate incident, most owners wouldn't even think about retreating to safety without their four-legged babies. Something similar popped up on the r/mademesmile subreddit, where someone posted an emotional video of a man reuniting with his dogs after surviving a devastating flood.

In Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, a team of rescuers reached a man stuck in a deadly flood. However, the man refused to leave without his four children because he said he wouldn't survive without them. It turned out that the man, a devoted pet parent, was actually talking about his four dogs and not human children. Thankfully, the rescuers could successfully save the man along with his four adorable canines. In the Reddit video, the man could be seen reuniting with his dogs—a precious moment reflecting the deep love they shared. Notably, overcome with emotions, the man could no longer hold back his tears while holding the dogs close to him.

The post received an overwhelming response on social media, making netizens emotional looking at the man's selfless love for his dogs. For example, u/critical-art-9277 commented, "That is so heartwarming; he's overwhelmed with emotion with them saving his wonderful dogs. Those volunteers who rescued them should feel so proud they did such a remarkable job." Similarly, u/1eternal_pessimist wrote, "One of those rare times that there is a video documenting such empathy flowing across every personality and species. People full of hate would do well to reflect on this. Brought me to tears."

u/consistent_dream_740 shared, "When I was around 9 years old, my house got broken into on Xmas Eve. The ONLY thing I cared about was if my cat was okay. Now that I'm older and have a dog, a cat, and two cresties...I still feel exactly the same. I could deal with losing every item that I have, but the thought of losing them kills me." Meanwhile, u/ghosted_dupe_0625 said, "Emotional moment, the way the four dogs were all clinging to their owner while he sobbed after the rescue. Thank you to those kind volunteers for rescuing them." u/hellomikkii shared, "I get it. You’d never want to leave your fur babies behind and save yourself. They are a part of your heart and soul. Those four “children” are clearly his entire life, and he is just so lucky to have been able to save them all together."

On the other hand, u/eliagbs_ revealed, "I met someone today that said they walked away from a bear because their dog kept barking at it and the dog wouldn’t come, so they were not about to risk their life for their dog. It took everything in me not to tell that person to f*** off and give that dog up to someone who will love it like a child. I would die for my dog; I would walk right into the arms of a bear if it meant my dog got to live and be taken care of."
