Man wanted his sick puppy euthanized. The vet simply refused to — and then did something unbelievable

Raising a pet is as challenging as raising a human child. Though tough, nothing beats the pure joy that these four-legged babies bring into our lives. However, unfortunately, for some people, giving them up is easy. While adopting a pet, what most don't understand is that they are actually a big responsibility that needs proper care and attention. So, when the endless duties start overwhelming them, they immediately take the inhumane decision of euthanizing their pets. Matt McGlasson, a veterinarian who goes by @dr.mattmcglasson on Instagram, came across a similar woeful situation where a man wanted to put his dog to sleep because of her health issues.

"This man and his wife had gone to a breeder, and they had purchased for a pretty good amount of money a Maltese puppy," the vet said, explaining how the owner didn't want to spend more money on his ailing dog, who was so weak that she weighed just 0.8 pounds. The poor dog wasn't in good condition, as she had completely stopped eating and was constantly vomiting. Her previous owners had already visited the vet clinic twice before they decided that they didn't wish to do it anymore. "On the third visit, when she still wasn't eating, he said he just wanted to put her to sleep," Dr. McGlasson shared. At first, the vet tried to convince the dog's owner not to take such a big decision, as there could be other ways of taking care of the puppy, but nothing really worked.
When Dr. McGlasson told the owner that he wasn't comfortable putting his dog to sleep, he turned and asked the vet to take care if he could. "I was like, sure, I will take this puppy," the doctor recalled. Initially, the plan was that McGlasson would keep the puppy for some time, and once she got better, he would give her to someone who could give her a good life, but fate had different plans. The first two weeks of bringing Chicky were just very difficult, as she had to be force-fed, and the puppy suffered from multiple seizures. Dr. McGlasson thought the dog wouldn't survive for long, and he had prepared his family for the same. But, thankfully, Chicky survived, becoming her rescuer's best friend. "We're obsessed with each other," the vet said.
Further, Dr. McGlasson urged everyone not to judge Chicky's former owner for what he did, and asked everyone to treat all veterinary technicians nicely, because he said they're all good people. "Every single vet I know has adopted some pet with some disability. We all just have soft spots, we love pets!" he added. Let's just say Chicky was lucky to be rescued just in time, but not all get a second chance at life. As per an astonishing report, every year, up to 8 million abandoned or homeless animals enter rescue homes in the United States alone, and about half of them are put to sleep.
When McGlasson shared his story online, people went all out, appreciating him for saving the dog just in time. For example, a user, @paitomunoz, commented, "You are what we need in this world… your love and compassion are contagious! Thank you for being YOU!"

Likewise, @bugsyboy2 said, "The people who wanted to put this precious puppy to sleep should themselves be put to sleep, disgusting human beings. The veterinarian is a hero." @thiscatisridiculous commented, "You were meant to be in the room that day. Grateful there are people like you in the world, and always grateful for everyone doing the difficult job you do."
