Meet the dog that looks like a Pit Bull–Chihuahua mix — and has people calling him the ‘most dangerous dog’

Dogs bred between different breeds are often a wonder to watch. Some pet owners like to turn heads with the bizarre outcome of mixing contrasting breeds to obtain a unique pet. Lexi Torres is one of them. The pet owner, who goes by @lexi_torres22 on TikTok, shared a glimpse of her special pup that left viewers stunned by her insane mixed appearance. The dog was part Pit Bull and part Chihuahua. The post with 2.9 million views was a popular stop for pet owners to flaunt their own mixed puppies in the comments. A few others jokingly marked her as a ‘dangerous dog,’ hinting at the pet’s potential ferocious instincts.

Torres drew much attention on the internet with her pup’s shiny brown coat, big puppy eyes, a Chihuahua snout, and tiny size. “Have ya’ll ever seen a Pit Bull/Chihuahua mix? He’s our Pee-wawa,” she mused in an overlay note. In the caption, the dog owner confirmed that this was the largest her mixed pup was going to get, which was not big at all. The brief snippet went viral, collecting 248,600 hearts from strangers marveling at her adorable dog. “Most dangerous dog out here and he doesn’t even know it,” said @jenni_palmaaa. “Why would you give Chihuahua Pit Bull power?” asked @zcypot. “This is my first time seeing the Chihuahua genes sort of beat the Pit Bull genes,” noted @bigrica_.

On the other hand, the comments turned into a dog fest of mixed breeds. Pet owners spammed the post with pictures of their mixed-breed puppies, ranging from a Doberman–Dachshund, tons of Chihuahua–Pit Bull, a Pug–Chihuahua, a Yorkie–German Shepherd, and a Bull–Shih Tzu, among myriad others. According to Purely Pets, a mixed-breed pup is obtained essentially when two purebred parents are interbred. However, when the parents are also mixed breeds, then the offspring are called mongrels or mutts, and it is difficult to tell their genetic makeup. There is also a third type called a true hybrid dog, where a dog is crossed with a wild animal, such as a wolf or coyote. It could be potentially dangerous and sometimes requires official permits for ownership, per The Spruce Pets.

In general, mixed breeds have traits that are ideal for pet owners. They are cheaper than purebreds, inherit a unique concoction of traits, make brilliant pets, and, most importantly, are likely to have a lower risk of health issues. However, there are two sides to every story. A mixed breed can also be unpredictable and face difficulty during delivery. Additionally, it is also not the best choice when a pet owner might be looking for a certain set of traits, behavior, or coat type.

If a pet owner is curious about their pet dog’s genetics and origins, a DNA test is the best option. A simple saliva sample test will provide information about the dog’s ancestry and potential breeds that make them who they are. Moreover, DNA tests are important, especially to provide health information and risks specific to certain breeds.
