No one could handle feral cat with a broken tail — until he sat on a stranger's lap. He chose him

Animals need nothing more than just a little love and attention, yet they are often neglected by the world. It's very easy for us to call them aggressive rather than putting in an extra effort to understand them. This, perhaps, explains why there are so many animals roaming on the streets, struggling to survive a cruel world. On a related note, a couple who had lost their beloved cat named Hugo stumbled upon another feline in a shelter home with a striking resemblance, and instantly fell in love with him. They walked in pretty unsure about what they would find, but what they did was absolutely unbelievable.

The couple met Jax (@jaxwithatwist on Instagram), the poor little cat with a broken tail and a clipped ear, who, as per the shelter, was a feral kitten with bad anger issues. The shelter had already decided that they would release him back onto the streets if he wasn't adopted. The couple was confused about the cat's behavior until they saw something very shocking. "We saw him being carried into the room by the scruff of the neck, looking terrified. We were instantly worried and didn't know what to do," they said, hinting at the shelter being harsh with the cat. The couple wanted to spend some more time with Jax, so they could understand him better. They asked the shelter home official to leave the room, giving them some privacy with the cat.

Jax had blood oozing out from the back of his neck, and his broken tail shattered the couple. Interestingly, the cat, who was called ill-mannered and scary, instantly transformed the minute the husband took him into his lap. He looked peaceful, certainly calm, as if he had known the man for years. At one point, Jax even slept in his lap, hinting at how safe he felt there. Despite uncertainty, the couple made the bold decision and brought Jax home, and that later proved to be the best decision of their life. "He turned out to be the sweetest kitty ever, not a mean kitty at all once he found love," the woman, Jax's mom, revealed.

Meanwhile, Jax's video received an overwhelming response on social media. Some people praised the couple for rescuing the cat, while others called out the shelter for mistreating him. Echoing the sentiments, @raven_and_greg commented, "My heart breaks every time I see Jax scared like that. You were all meant to be together." @duchess_n_chloe said, "I don’t know, but this made my blood boil. They weren’t treating him nicely. He was in pain and afraid, not feral. I’m so happy you took a chance on him, my friend. He is loved, and I can see he is so grateful to have you."

Similarly, another user, @ospreylvr, shared, "Holy Jax! She was holding him in a defensive mode for her benefit. As I said that day, you got him. He has never been a feral cat. He might have had some street cred because he had to. Perhaps he was scared there, misjudged, but he is not feral. Perhaps he was poorly treated. Regardless, he has all the love and cuddles you and your husband can take in." @jonnymead commented, "He just needed to be shown what love was, and he liked it so much, and his life felt better because of it."
