'It takes about a month for a puppy to learn proper social skills. Until then, the older dog may find them annoying,' one user shared.

Most children eagerly wait for their younger siblings, delighted by just the idea of having a constant companion. However, this over-the-top excitement often comes with a bag full of emotions, including slight insecurity and jealousy. The hasty shift in relationship dynamics can leave the little ones feeling overwhelmed. Despite initial challenges, when their relationship grows and develops into a strong bond, they eventually become best friends. Just like humans, animals also experience similar emotions. On this note, Kaitlyn Braswell (@kbraswell26 on TikTok) shared a beautiful video, capturing the first time her senior Golden Retriever bonded with her new puppy, Nala, after her other dog passed away.

In the heartwarming TikTok video, the 13-year-old senior dog was seen joyfully chasing Nala, her younger sibling, in the open field. Braswell, their owner who was quite emotional looking at their growing bond, revealed that it was the first time since she got Nala that the two were finally being friendly. Simultaneously, the overlay text on the screen read, "POV: Your senior golden plays with the puppy for the first time since we got her a month ago. Until then, she only growled at her." Moreover, reflecting more on the precious moment, the pet owner shared that after her other dog passed away, it was the first time that her senior Golden Retriever was playing with her new puppy.

Meanwhile, reacting to the endearing clip, @collinhansen442 commented, "I think every senior dog needs a puppy. We've always brought a new puppy into the pack as our oldest gets old. I'm convinced that it adds years to their life. Makes a much smoother transition." Similarly, @historychick revealed, "It takes about a month for a puppy to learn proper social skills. Until then, the older dog may find them annoying. The growling helps a puppy learn how to act nicely." @ol.stump4x4 shared, "What breaks my heart is that you can see the older baby wants to move like it used to. But still making the best of what that baby has left in the old bones." @kittykatbar_82 said, "Much love mama. It’s a different type of feeling when you see your babies happy. And this is a beautiful video of them bonding!"  @tomntominmd pointed out, "I’m a firm believer (after 31 years and 14 Golden Retrievers) that adding a puppy at this stage extends the senior's life by at least a year or two. Well done!"

@dannyg6228 revealed, "I think I’ll do this with my Milo the Shih Tzu as he gets older. A senior shih tzu with a shih tzu puppy will be a fun company, hopefully as fun as your goldens!" @kc1duh pointed out, "The beauty of this beyond the relationship is the older dog teaching the puppy how to be a family member." @lynnsden commented, "My senior doodle, who I thought would pass any day, lived three more years after I brought a puppy home." On the other hand, @shadowfaxing wrote, "It took my dog two weeks to accept the younger dog we brought. Now they’re besties and she’s SUPER cuddly now with me like she wasn’t before." @bison5454 shared, "I always think it’s cause they can’t see very well and they go by smell so they smell strange, and old dogs hate new things at first. I miss my old boy, the puppies keep them around longer."
