Owner thought her dog was barking non-stop at a delivery — moments later, cops showed up with news that gave her chills
A dog owner was overwhelmed with emotions when she found out her loyal dog had been secretly protecting her. A woman was caught off guard when the police showed up at her door with concerning news. She had heard her pet dog, Wally, barking nonstop earlier, but paid no heed to it as he usually did it to scare delivery people. It was not until later that the dog owners realized their furry friend’s heroic attempt had saved them from a troublesome situation. In a Reddit post under u/greatWrightshark, the pet owner detailed the series of events that went down that day.
A couple who lived in a “major” city had a simple arrangement. The wife would work from home while the husband commuted to and from work every day. Their pet dog, Wally, often kept her company in her home office. While she would be engrossed in her meetings, Wally would doze off or stare out of the front window for hours. The pup was generally calm and friendly, but let out a bark or two when a delivery person arrived at the door. One day, the woman was nose-deep in work, attending a meeting upstairs, when she heard Wally going “absolutely ballistic.”
"A few minutes later, the cops knock on our door,” the post read. The police alerted her about a couple of robberies that had recently taken place in the neighborhood, and their house was also targeted. “Someone saw the robber pop the screen off our front window and tried to get in. Wally wasn’t having it,” the owner recalled. The dog went barking mad at the strange intruder, causing them to flee the scene before getting caught red-handed.
Soon, everything fell into place. The chilling encounter opened the owners’ eyes to the important role Wally played in ensuring their safety at home. “I am so thankful for him, and it makes me feel more at ease that he’s around while I’m gone. Dogs really are the best,” the post concluded. An adorable picture of Wally was attached, in which he seemed to enjoy all the admiration from his beloved owners. “My best boy prevented our house from being robbed,” the title read. Internet users were enlightened by Wally’s brave feat of preventing a robbery attempt. “My Lab needs to take lessons from him.
