One woman faced stares, rude comments, and people calling her "crazy lady" with the dog in a stroller, not knowing the real reason she was doing it. The woman’s unusual routine was never about spoiling a pet; it was about love, loyalty, and repaying a debt in the most personal way. Now, after sharing her story online, she’s asking people to think twice before judging what they don’t understand.

As reported by Newsweek, Julieanne “Jules” Martin-Ródriguez, 50, from Torquay in Devon, England, spent 11 years with her beloved Cavachon Juan Carlos, or JC, as she called him. In 2023, the senior dog was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and kidney disease and was given just a few months to live. Walking became a struggle, but rather than leave him behind, Martin-Ródriguez bought a stroller so he could still enjoy the outdoors. He began "to really struggle walking,” she said, but "his quality of life vastly improved” once he could visit his favorite woods and grassy spots again. Still, their outings were often met with ridicule. “I became ‘the crazy lady with her dog in a pram’ to some people,” she shared with the outlet. She recently shared the details of the incident in a TikTok video under the handle @cavahammock

But the stroller wasn’t just for JC; it was for her, too. Martin-Ródriguez revealed that JC had helped her through her own battle with cancer. “He never left my side,” she said. During her recovery, she could barely walk, but JC stayed with her, never complaining as they took small steps forward together. “After walking with me every step of the way through cancer treatment and recovery, I knew I had to do whatever I could to help him enjoy the walks that had been so important for both my physical and mental health.” Facing judgment from strangers was a small price to pay, she said, for the joy and peace those walks brought them both.

JC passed away earlier this year at age 11, “with a belly full of steak, whipped cream, and a Baci chocolate.” Martin-Ródriguez continues to share his story on her account, hoping to help others understand why someone might push a dog in a stroller. “If someone is considering a stroller for their dog, just do it,” she said. “They will become some of the best memories of your life.” She expressed, "Personally, I would have happily pushed him in his stroller for the rest of my days."

The video struck a chord with numerous internet users, many leaving kind messages in the comment section. @oddtowel shared their personal experience, "I used one for the last year of my dog’s life. He had arthritis, a heart murmur, and diabetes. He could only walk for 5-10 minutes, then into his stroller for an hour while I got my steps in. People would stare and laugh, but I didn’t care. I gave my best friend the happiest life I could give him." @ladyofevergloam wrote, "I adore when people take their elderly animals out in buggies. It means that extra time for them, and they get to do the fun bits without being too tired."
