Previous owners abandoned this dog with a note. Thanks to one stranger, she finally found her forever home

Dogs make one of the most adorable and loyal pets, especially for those who struggle with loneliness. Once you get a dog, there won't be a single moment you feel neglected or lonely. However, some owners get them without understanding that they aren't just cute, cuddly companions but an actual responsibility. Burdened by commitment, few people abandon their pets, leaving them to face the cruel world all alone. A similar heartbreaking story unfolded when an individual who goes by u/freeagent291 on Reddit found a dog with a devastating note.

The previous owner began the note by explaining that the dog, Bella, was okay using diapers, or she could also relieve herself on a towel placed neatly on the bathroom floor. Further, the note (written on behalf of the sweet little puppy) read, "My former owner was invalid and could not take me for walks," reflecting the owner's self-awareness about their incapability. Moreover, the previous owners revealed that if taken for regular walks, Bella was also trained for bathroom duties outside. "I bark at the door knocks, and when people enter the house, even the people I know. Sometimes, I am not easy to quiet down," the post read.
Moving on, the owner shared details about Bella's eating habits, explaining that although she likes dry dog food, she wouldn't complain about cat food. "I get along with cats if they get along with me. If they challenge me, I will defend myself," they wrote. Bella was certainly a friendly dog who loved socializing with other canines and people she met during walks. Her previous parents, on Bella's behalf, talked about her nature and revealed, "If you yell at me firmly, I will mostly heed your command." One person found Bella with this note and wasn't sure what to do, so he posted the same on Reddit. In a fortunate twist, though, later, the author updated their audience and shared that Bella had finally found her forever home and moved in with a retired couple.

Meanwhile, u/malkiel commented, "The note is heartbreaking... I can't imagine the life Bella had and having to be separated from her previous owner. I feel very bad for both Bella and her previous owner. I hope she finds a good home, be it with you or someone else." Similarly, u/myster_hydra wrote, "Poor baby. Keep it if you want a dog. It seems like she really doesn’t have anyone else. We don’t have the room or funds now, but I’m not going to lie; if I found this dog, we would just keep her. If there’s a shelter nearby, you could take her there. Someone just fed her cat food because they didn’t have food for her? And she goes on a towel? My heart!" u/prinnykin revealed, "I also had a little dog turn up on my doorstep, and I hated dogs! Turns out she’s the best thing to ever happen to me. She’s brought so much joy into my life. I’m so glad she found me."

u/mammoth_arachnid5258 shared, "The last owner put in that effort shows they truly cared for Bella; they just didn’t have the means to help her live her best life. If I got this, I would absolutely cry and take her in! Hopefully, OP has the means to or is able to get Bella to a good and loving home she deserves!" On the other hand, u/no_tumbleweed138 said, "When a dog walks into your life, it's a gift from God. Take him in and treat him better than he's ever been treated. I don't know why it's even a question. My mom found a few different dogs, and every time they became the best dogs."
