Pup’s over-the-top reaction to ‘boring’ food at home after vacationing with grandparents is a must-see

Just like humans, pets also have an uncanny ability to bond with elderly people, and this video is evidence of the same.

Remember those childhood summer vacations when most of us would beg our parents, with tearful eyes, to let us stay just a little longer at our grandparents' house? Well, those were the days filled with unconditional love, homemade treats, and stories that felt like magic. Just like humans, pets also have an uncanny ability to bond with elderly people. As such, Amy Jones (@joneskamy on TikTok) posted a hilarious video of her dog grieving after a fun weekend with the grandparents.

In the heart-melting clip, the adorable Labrador was captured sitting on the couch, gazing out the window, seemingly lost in a world of its own. Simultaneously, the onscreen text read, "When you have had all-inclusive at nan and granddad all weekend and come back to brown things on your food bowl..." It looked like Jones' dog was feeling the post-vacation blues, especially when it came to adjusting back to its regular (and, of course, not-so-exciting) meals. "Back to the boring brown things…" the dog owner shared in the video caption.

Meanwhile, reacting to the video, @user4689355353155 commented, "Mine like to hide under granny’s beds so I can’t possibly take them back to my dungeon!" @route71diner commented, "Phone the grandparents now and tell them they are not feeding you right matey they’ll be right over." @mmmbbb wrote, "I just had my grand doggy for 4 days, spit and image of your dog, she's not pleased she had to go back." @bellbottom2 wrote, "I swear that when my daughter put dog food in her bowl ... she looked up at me and said wtf is this." Similarly, @_shellie wrote, "My dachshund cried for 3 hours when his grandparents dropped him back to ours." @ocpool22 wrote, "How old are your dog's grandparents? It’s sweet they get to see them though, I wonder if they can tell they are related."

In a similar story highlighting the precious bond between dogs and senior citizens, a lifestyle content creator, Lydia—who goes by—@lydiasnontoxiclife on TikTok shared a beautiful video of her dog-loving grandpa going to a dog meet-up. It all started when Lydia's sister forwarded an Instagram post about the "dachshund meet-up" with her. Initially, she was not sure if her granddad would be okay with a 2-hour-long journey, as reported by Newsweek. However, her grandpa was more than excited to meet the cute dogs in Greenville, South Carolina. Interestingly, as a 10-year-old, the man had a red-haired dachshund, Bingo, whose picture he was proudly showing to other pet parents at the dachshund meet-up. Lydia's grandpa looked over the moon, looking at so many dachshunds all gathered in one place.

"I like to get another one. But grandma says no," he explained in the video. After a while, he simply sat in a corner admiring the little bundle of joys running around in the room. "Bingo was the prettiest," grandpa announced at the end of the meet-up when Lydia asked him about his experience. The uncontrollable happiness on his face showed how much the man loved being around the dogs. The video garnered an overwhelming response on the platform with people suggesting Lydia to get the old man another dachshund.
