'Purple' Corgi entered a dog race with a personal vendetta and commentator ran with it: 'Holy cow'

If you ask a dog parent to describe one of the most amazing experiences in life, most would probably talk about watching their furballs actively participate in games. Their over-the-top excitement, boundless energy, and playful, quirky antics would make anyone fall in love with them. A similar scene was witnessed when the news outlet ESPN (@espn on TikTok) posted a hilarious video capturing irresistibly adorable corgis running in a race. While all the dogs were undoubtedly charming, one particular participant truly stole the spotlight. Guess what? The corgi didn't win the race, but it was definitely the show-stopper.

The video began with all the dog owners set at the starting line, waiting for the competition to begin. With each passing moment, the anticipation about who would take the trophy home kept accelerating. Finally, the moment arrived, and the commentator called out, "Ready, go!" Without any second thoughts, the corgies dashed off, each one exuding unbelievable energy and excitement. Although every other corgi remained within their racing tracks, one in particular, wearing a purple scarf, had a single motive—push a fellow participant (the grey scarf corgi) aside and race straight to the finish line. It seemed almost like the dog had entered the race with a personal vendetta. "Here come the doggies, and this time it's a fair start, Huckleberry. Holy cow! Brad absolutely annihilated a fellow corgi!" the commentator announced. "Purple corgi meant business," read the overlay screen while the banter unfolded on the screen.
Meanwhile, reacting to the overtly funny video, @maximumdefense commented, "That was personal af. You can see the Corgi in purple eyeing the one in gray down before the race even starts." @definitely_human1st wrote, "Bread had his eyes on the corgis before the race even started, like Bread did he not repay you with treats?" Similarly, @the1975jay shared, "Bread heard that boy talking during warmups, calling him toast! He didn’t care about anything but taking him out!"

@edwardtiktok1990 asked, "What happened between purple and gray before this race? Because Purple legit had some serious business with the gray corgi." On the other hand, @boozebeard, who interpreted the purple corgi's point of view, shared, "That's 100% personal on Bread's part." I'm not here to win; I'm here to make sure you lose." @delcobunny commented, "Why aren’t you all upset? If these were greyhounds, you all would be crying. At least the greyhounds run safely with their muzzles."

In a similar heartwarming story, a 14-year-old dachshund, Sophie, couldn't come first in the race, but her unwavering determination and resilience made her the star of the show. Notably, the race, hosted by the University of California, Davis’ School of Veterinary Medicine, is a dachshunds race after a simulated rabbit. The annual competition is meant to prove who is the "top dog." Moreover, while talking to the Dodo, Alex Cohen (@tinysnekcomics on X), a Ph.D. student, shared, "To see such an old dog successfully make her way across the finish line was inspiring. All the other doxies had finished this race, and the whole auditorium really rallied for Sophie to make it. When she finally lumbered across, the crowd went wild!"
