Ryan Gosling once remembered his late dog as toothless, ‘skinny-fat,’ and 'still sexy' in one of the strangest tributes yet

Hollywood star Ryan Gosling has painted a vivid image of his beloved dog in everyone’s minds. During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actor shared memories of his late pet, George, in the final years of his life. Gosling ditched the ordinary and paid a strangely iconic tribute, comparing George to an aging rock star. He recalled some fond memories to emphasize the dog's distinguished personality that left the internet agape.

Wearing George’s dog tag on his neck, the 44-year-old star got candid about his life with the pet. He appeared on the interview soon after the dog’s passing in December 2016 to pay a heartfelt tribute with a touch of humor. “George, as he started to age, started to look like an aging rock star. He was sort of skinny fat, and he had big hair and no teeth,” Gosling told the host. “Open sores, but still sexy.” The father of two revealed that he had not considered getting another dog yet, as he still cherishes the 17 beautiful years with George.

Gosling caught himself getting emotional about George, who was a “good friend” to him all his life. The pet traveled the world with him and became his constant companion, even on film sets. However, the Barbie star did have qualms about George’s identity as a dog. “It’s funny to say dog, because I feel like there was something about George where he always, I think he felt like being a dog was beneath him,” Gosling disclosed as the crowd burst into laughter.

“He would not do tricks. If you wanted him to even sit down, you had to sort of convince him it was in his best interest,” Gosling said. He briefly recounted a hilarious antic where George was taken to an outdoor restaurant but could not resist sitting on a table. “He was sort of sitting on the pavement, looking forlorn down the street,” the Drive actor said. As soon as someone got up from their chair to head to the restroom, George got up onto their seat and climbed onto the table to sit like a “gentleman.”
Fans were smitten by Gosling’s love for his late dog. “I love that Ryan took such a devastating story and turned it into something a little funny so he could lighten up the mood,” said @esdeeh. Many fellow pet owners related to the actor’s fondness for his late dog. @BrookieInProgress wrote, “My 12-year-old dog was hit by a car and died in my arms in June. I completely understand this pain.” However, George is no mystery dog to the entertainment sphere as he made appearances alongside Gosling in public interviews. He once stepped in front of the camera on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, donning a mohawk that had established his iconic persona on TV with his star dad.
