Remember the first thunderstorm experience of your life? The sudden crack of lightning, the scary rumble of thunder shaking the walls, and, of course, the eerie dark sky must be overwhelming, right? Just like most children instinctively seek the comforting embrace of their parents, pets, too need their human companions to ensure that they are safe. Similarly, an incredibly beautiful video shared by Ayla Lawrence-Saunders (@ayla_dhyani on Instagram) captured how her partner patiently consoled their adorable Dachshund-Frenchie mix, John, as he experienced his first thunderstorm.

The couple's playful puppy was living his best life at the dog park when the weather changed without any warning. A chilly breeze swept through, rustling the trees, and within moments, heavy raindrops began to pour down, turning the once-perfect play date into an unexpected downpour for John. Nobody expected the thunderstorm since it was not registered anywhere on the radar." It literally came out of nowhere! The little guy (John) was chilling with his dad when it happened," Ayla shared. In the endearing Instagram reel, John was captured snuggling up into his father's arms, seeking comfort as if trying to hide himself in his embrace.

Meanwhile, the man remained calm, gently stroking his four-legged baby, offering silent reassurance that everything was fine. When Ayla saw John and her partner in the rain, she immediately ran to them with coats, she revealed in the comments. Although John's first experience of a thunderstorm was downright scary, it did not affect his love for rain. Talking about the same, Ayla revealed, "He loves playing in the rain now. He's the best." The heartwarming video received an amazing response on social media and crossed over 1 million views online.

Meanwhil,e reacting to the clip, @biljanamarkozanova commented, "My golden retriever was afraid of thunderstorms until 11 years old. After his hearing was gone, he no longer cared." @eoghanryder commented, "I love that he stuck his head out just to check if it was still happening." @gregblackmon commented, "That puppy needs emergency couch snuggles with at least two blankets NOW." @bellemilligan commented, "Rain amplifies sound and with dogs being able to hear extremely well already, it must be so overwhelming for him to experience for the first time, especially with the thunder too. Thankfull,y his parents are doing a great job soothing him."

@susannelowe commented, "Poor thing. I took my dog to puppy classes and they advised downloading an app with various sounds like thunderstorms, fireworks, traffic, car horns, trucks, etc. It was to be played at a barely audible level to humans. It worked. Her first walk along a busy road went perfectly and bonfire night went without any issues. Daisy isn’t even bothered about thunderstorms. It might be worth looking into to avoid more scares." @thecuteangelicpup wrote, "Aww! Mine hasn't experienced it yet since he was born in winter but I hope he'll be fine." On the other hand, @jenniereyn commented, "Don’t baby him in a thunderstorm. He will do this all the time and run away when scared. He needs to learn it is just a noise by ignoring it." @amberforder wrote, "Aww! Amazing how safe they can feel in their families' arms. What a cute puppy!"
