Service dog senses medical episode coming – saves his owner with one thing even she didn’t know was needed

A dog is a human’s best friend, and this dog just proved it. Bailey, a medical service dog, wowed the internet with his emergency response when his owner Katie was seconds away from suffering a medical episode. A heartening clip of the dog helping his owner as she struggled to remain conscious has gone viral with 1.4 million views on their joint page, @serviceaussiebaiely. Katie was in the kitchen when Bailey sensed her medical spiral moments before it happened. He immediately got to work as Katie took a moment to breathe and calm down to prevent any mishaps. Surprisingly, Bailey understood her condition and brought her a rare item that she didn’t even know she needed this time.

Katie sat down on the floor, half dizzy and feeling discomfort in her body. However, Bailey kept his calm and fetched her medication first thing to prevent the medical episode from worsening. “I sat down as gently as I could. Every movement was measured because I knew one wrong shift could send my body into a full episode,” she stated in an overlay note. After giving her the medication, Bailey even reassured her with a little hug and then brought her phone to call for help. The owner was, however, waiting for water to drink with her medication, but Bailey could not find it on the table. “I never doubted him…he was still trying to bring me what he felt was needed before I even knew what that was,” she added.

Impressively, Bailey used his quick-thinking skills and got Katie a blanket, considering her body temperature had dropped. She explained that generally it is not required, as she endures “sudden hot flashes” on other days. “Today, I was so grateful he knew I needed something to keep me warm.” He had noticed her chills and shakiness and figured she needed a blanket this time. Then, the service dog searched the fridge to get her water and quietly sat down on her lap to keep her warm and offer support. “Due to his diligence, I didn’t faint this time…I had help while I was scared,” Katie wrote, hinting at her dog’s wisdom in emergencies. “He kept me brave, grounded. Kept me company while I felt so alone.”
@serviceaussiebailey He may just be a dog, but to me, he is my everything. I couldn’t live this life without him. Thank you Bailey. For being my strength when I am at my lowest. - #disabilityawareness #ServiceDog #pots #mcas #eds #ist #fyp #foryou ♬ original sound - dalia
