She followed faint meows and realized a kitten had been flushed out of a building. She saved him just in time

Unlike humans, stray animals don't really benefit from the rapid expansion of urban infrastructures. As the population grows, the demand for buildings, roads, drainage systems, etc., also increases, posing a severe threat to stray animals. These little creatures often seek refuge in open drains or pipes, particularly to escape the extreme weather. A similar distressing situation unfolded when a woman who goes by @harmonicurls on Instagram stepped in to rescue a one-month-old kitten stuck in a drainage pipe.

It all began when she heard some strange, unusual noise coming from the building next door. However, she didn't pay much attention to it until the soft, distressed cries continued for hours. Thankfully, the woman soon realized that there was a kitten stuck in the drainage pipe who was actually crying for help. She immediately rushed to help, but since she couldn't find a solution, the woman called a team of firefighters for the rescue. When the fire department officials reached the site, they realized they had to break the sidewalk as well as the pipe to get the kitten out of it. "But the thing is that it didn't work," the woman said, explaining how the team had lost all hope of saving the poor kitten.

Despite the uncertainty, the team made the bold decision. They realized that they would have to flush the kitten out of the drainage pipe, regardless of the outcome. Fortunately, the kitten made his way out of the deadly pipe, making his rescue successful. "Now, was it in my plans to adopt the kitten? No, I already have a cat, but, I couldn't just leave him," the woman said, explaining how she instantly fell in love with the cat.

The young lady shared the beautiful rescue story online, receiving immense love on social media. Echoing the sentiments, @yashira322 commented, "You are an angel for rescuing the baby! They both will be so loved." @queen shared, "I’m so proud of everything you do for your cat babies." Another person who goes by @xever_ending on Instagram pointed out, "Girl, they grow up so fast. I found kittens in my backyard last summer, and now they’re practically grown! I miss when they were this small!" Similarly, @stefania_pertea wished, "Glad that you have taken the cat. I hope wonderful things happen to your life and family."

On the other hand, @ecaramba_ wrote, "I’m so so so so sooo glad the timeline brought me back to the update! I’m so happy that he’s living his best little life, showered in love as he deserves. Thank you!" @kaitlyn.bleier revealed, "My kitty was rescued when he was tiny, and I adopted him at like 6 months from the shelter. He really likes to suckle even though he’s almost 1 now, so he has a special bear he’s allowed to suckle on so he doesn’t get our blankets all wet."

Two days later, the woman shared an update on Nalu, talking about how he has been dealing with his new life, particularly sharing space with her other rescue cat, Tailung. "For the first couple of days, I noticed that he kept suckling on like the blankets, my face, my fingers," she said, possibly hinting at how Nalu looked a little hesitant at the beginning. Initially, the woman had kept Nalu in the bathroom, away from Tailung, before both came face-to-face. The lady was quite nervous about their first meeting, and rightfully so, because in the beginning, Tailung didn't seem quite comfortable around Nalu. However, with time, their relationship became better, with Tailung even sharing his food with Nalu. With at least 480 million stray cats around the world, it would be better if we had more people like the woman who goes above and beyond to rescue these helpless felines, surviving on the streets alone.
