This cat followed kids to school — got escorted home by the Principal like a true celebrity

'He deserves an education, too! Bring that kitty back to school,' a user said.

Natasha Gekalo (@natashagekalo) nearly froze when she spotted their cat, Simon, walking down the street like a true celebrity, with her daughter, Nacy, and a handsome gentleman trailing behind. The reason? Well, Simon had apparently decided to follow the kids to their school and ended up getting a "VIP escort home." In a ridiculously adorable tale of canine audacity, Gekalo realized how cats operate by their own secret agendas.

When Simon, the cat, decided to follow his siblings to school, he had no idea that schools aren't really made for four-legged babies. Embarrassingly, he was made to return home, escorted not just by his sister but also by the principal. "Big thanks to the school principal for walking him back with Nancy," Gekalo said, sharing glimpses of the oh-so-chill headmaster making sure that Simon returned home safe and sound. Now, one look at the cat, and you would know that the baby wasn't embarrassed at all. In fact, he clearly loved every second of the VIP treatment. Needless to say, Simon loved the kids and wasn't ready to let them go out of sight, even if it meant tagging along for boring lectures.

While many believe that cats aren't affectionate like dogs or other animals, research confirms that they, too, can form meaningful bonds with their owners and recognize them as part of their family. In fact, PetMD lists subtle cues to interpret your cat's mood, behavior, and disposition towards you.

When Natasha shared the hilarious incident online, the heartwarming post received an overwhelming response on social media. For instance, a person who goes by @lacquerinlivingcolor on Instagram commented, "First, he wanted to know where the kids go every day. Second, from his confident walk, he’s not ashamed. Third, he might do it again." Another user, @morgane.lcz, said, "He deserves an education, too! Bring that kitty back to school!" Echoing the sentiments, @middie619 shared, "The cat went on his adventure. The principal becomes the hero of the story. But Nancy doesn’t seem to be amused by Simon at all!"

@climbingemily revealed, "When that happened to me, I got yelled at for 'purposefully distracting the school' and for being late (because I kept trying to get my dog to go back home). They refused to allow me to take my dog home, so my dog got lost and was missing for a week. My sister wouldn't speak to me until the dog was found. I'm still traumatized!" Similarly, @lauraandben26 shared, "This was my cat every day at primary school — also a ginger menace. I used to get called to get him from the dinner hall and carry him home — he weighed a ton and would be back in the playground before I got back to class." @jturnrich said, "My Chihuahua used to slip out when my grandmother opened the door, and show up in my classroom at school, three blocks from home. This was a small town, back in the day, so I was allowed to walk him home by myself, or my mother, who was a teacher, would drive him home in bad weather."
