Most people with pets will relate when we say the never-ending fear of losing their four-legged babies often keeps them awake at night. It's the helplessness that you can't prepare yourself for, but once you have felt it, you will never forget the incredible pain that it brings along. While many gradually slip into anxiety and depression, others find ways to cope with the devastating loss. On a similar note, when Dr. Whitney C. Terrell, who goes by @dr.terrellpetvet on TikTok, lost her rescue dog, Lady Wiggle Bottom, she decided to cherish her memories through a heartwarming video, honoring her soul and thanking her for the precious moments spent together.

Dr. Whitney, a kind veterinarian, in her video, revealed that Lady, the rescue dog, was adopted from a shelter but was later returned when she was diagnosed with a terminal illness, and her owners could no longer take care of her. Upon hearing about the sweet pup, Dr. Whitney rushed to pick Lady from the shelter, making her an integral part of her life. "She was my oldest daughter’s best dog friend and was always a sweet, happy dog with a wiggle butt and a crooked leg!" the veterinarian wrote. Although Dr. Whitney's family often complained about Lady being excessively clingy, they adored every bit of her presence.

"She loved Woof’s Pupsicles, chasing rabbits, and sneaking up to lie on our bed," Dr. Whitney recalled, as she finally bade her canine best friend goodbye, saying, "She was a good girl, and she will be missed." Notably, the woman further talked about a horrifying incident, explaining how, once, while trying to keep Lady's house warm during winter, she accidentally caused a deadly fire; however, fortunately, the horrifying incident didn't harm anyone.

Meanwhile, Dr. Whitney shared a sneak peek into her family's special bond with Lady and the cherished time they had spent together. From her kids to her other pets, Lady made everyone fall for her, becoming a valuable addition to the family. Just like Dr. Whitney, CABI Digital Library, research claims that most pet owners, dealing with the loss of a beloved pet, experience grief equivalent to that of losing a human companion. However, in most cases, they get relatively less emotional support from people, especially those who don't have any pets. This very lack of support is called "disenfranchised grief," which leaves pet parents feeling isolated.

Dr. Whitney's heartfelt tribute, capturing precious moments between Dr. Whitney and her rescue dog, received an overwhelming response on social media, leaving people in tears. Echoing the sentiments, a user who goes by @jillybean323 on TikTok commented, "Such a beautiful tribute to your amazing and special girl! Thank you for sharing and for giving her the best life while she was with you!" Another user who goes by @love.huvet on the platform wrote, "Oh, this broke my heart! I am so sorry for your loss! She was so lucky to have you and your family snatch her up!"

Similarly, @autumnl71, a grieving pet parent, shared, "She was greeted by my two babies over that bridge. She's happy, she's healed, and she knows nothing but love. Thinking of you & your family!" On the other hand, @nnelson1219 suggested, "So sorry for your loss. Don’t go down the ‘if only’ rabbit hole. We have all done that when we have to help our fur babies cross. Hugs for you!"

🩷 Lady Wiggle Bottom 🩷 • 2015-2025 • Lady had been adopted out from the shelter and boarded at a clinic I was working at. Not long after, we got a call that the owner had to return her because she became ill with a terminal diagnosis and could no longer take care of her. I left my clinic and went and got her from the shelter because I knew what a sweet dog she was. She was with us ever since. She was my oldest daughter’s best dog friend and was always a sweet, happy dog with a wiggle butt and a crooked leg! • We loved to complain about how annoyingly sweet she was and if you gave her an inch, she would take a mile and never let you have space 😂 • Me trying to keep her dog house warm in the winter ended up causing our trailer to burn down, but thankfully we were all safe 🥴 • She loved Woof’s Pupsicles, chasing rabbits, and sneaking up to lay on our bed. • She was a good girl and she will be missed 🥹💜
