In a heartwarming incident, a stray dog was rescued from approximately 6300 miles away. A UK tourist visited Peru to spend quality time in the Andes. The time spent was so memorable that she returned with a souvenir. Paddington, the dog, has a wonderful story which was shared by his to-be owner, @paddingtonfromperu on Instagram. The video has garnered 15.3 million views so far.

The visitor was on a solo trip to Peru. There, lying in a hammock on her first day of the trip, she met her furry soulmate. While reading and enjoying the pleasant weather, she was suddenly nudged by the nose of a stray dog, whom she later named Paddington Bear. She cuddled him a bit and then went inside her cabin. The next morning, she found Paddington outside her room, sitting in the same place she had left him. She realized that he had spent the whole night in the dark waiting for her to come out. Completely awestruck by his gesture, she decided to temporarily adopt him for her trip.

However, their instant and natural connection was too pure to end so soon. They both embraced their company throughout the trip, which prompted her to adopt him full-time. But their journey met with a four-month-long pitstop at the animal care shelter in Peru. Paddington is currently in the shelter getting vaccinated for the prevention of rabies and other necessary diseases. He will be transported to the UK on August 10. And until then, the soulmates are living their separate lives.

People online loved her confidence and appreciated her gesture in rescuing a dog from a different country. “He has no idea how loved he is. Such s good boy!” shared @jen_the_me_warrior. “What is the countdown at now? We can’t wait for him to get to his forever home,” asked @teddy.and.elvis. “We had the same experience with two street dogs from Guatemala. It took us six months and lots of paperwork and prayers, but we were able to get them home to us in the States. They are such good boys! They have each gained 20 pounds, are extremely affectionate, and we love them so very much. It was so worth it,” @jaxx_stagram shared their part of the story.

The concept of adopting a stray dog from a different country may seem exciting at first. But it is never easy. The girl went through a lot of trouble. First, the hefty amount of money required to transport the dog from one place to another. Plus, making sure that he is vaccinated and healthy is no joke. The tourist had to start a GoFundMe, which helped her a lot in this process. She visited Peru in May, and it is taking her four months of hard work to get Paddington to the UK. The Instagram community has been rooting for her dog’s return. She is also keeping the people online on their tiptoes by uploading countdown videos of Paddington’s return.

The Centers for Disease Control issued guidelines on adopting dogs from foreign countries and alerted people to possible scams and risks of contracting rabies. The organization mentioned that thoroughly reviewing the adoption centres before committing is necessary to avoid the possibility of fraud. There are certain mandatory rules to be followed before transporting animals to the USA, including vaccinations and continuous vet checkups. These must be followed before adopting a dog from overseas. The UK citizen also followed the same, and within 18 days, she will be reunited with her furry partner.
