Two people fought on Judge Judy's show over a dog's ownership—until she let the dog reveal the truth
When it comes to showing emotions, no one from the animal kingdom can beat canines. Known for their emotional quotient, unconditional love and loyalty, these affectionate creatures have an incredible ability to connect with humans. In one such instance, TV personality Judge Judy Sheindlin experienced this profound truth when she encountered a case of two parties arguing over the ownership of a dog. Instead of deciding herself, the judge let the little pooch choose its true owner. Although such legal cases can be very complicated, this particular case was an exceptional open-and-shut case. Meanwhile, Reddit user u/badass_band1t shared the now-viral reunion video of the dog and its loyal owner.
Notably, in a typical courtroom set-up, there was a complainant, a middle-aged man, who claimed the male puppy was his, while on the other side stood the defendant, a woman who said she had bought the dog for $50 off the street, firmly refusing the man's claim. "I have a document from my vet and they are saying that the dog is a mixed breed and is 5 years old," the woman argued after Judge Judy asked for the dog to be brought into the courtroom. Once the dog entered, the entire courtroom was awe-struck looking at the innocent little puppy. "Madam, listen to me carefully! Put the dog down," Judge Judy said and in the blink of an eye, the dog rushed towards its father like a fireball.
While the whole courtroom erupted in cheers and applause, the defendant further argued, "He (the dog) does that to everybody!" However, Judge Judy glared back at the woman and declared with a stern tone, "It's his dog." On the other hand, the rightful owner burst into happy tears as he got back his beloved puppy. "This means everything in the world to me. This is like my child," he said, as reported by TODAY. Reacting to the clip, u/sloth_grl commented, "I had someone tell me that dogs don’t have feelings and that are acting because it gets them food and treats. He was so wrong that I felt sorry for him because he would never love a dog or feel the unconditional love that they give back." u/suzanneov wrote, "That guy totally tried to hold it together and resisted every urge to pick up his dog. He was probably worried Judge Judy would reprimand him if he prematurely picked up HIS pup. Way to go, Dad."

Anyway, Judge Judy had determined it was the little boy’s dog but wanted to be fair to the dog because it had been with the other family for so long. Well, the dog ended up going over to the other family because he was bonded with them. Judge Judy ordered the family to pay $1000 so the little boy could pick whatever puppy he wanted. But man those tears broke my heart. He didn’t want another puppy, he wanted his puppy." u/lightdesignr wrote, "Before the pup was even set down you can see it focus on the man and try to smell from a distance if it was him or not. The dog perked up immediately. I’m so glad the owners had their pup returned back to the family."
