Watch as this blind stray cat chose his forever home before his owners even realized it

From the outside, it may look like we adopt pets, but, in reality, sometimes it is they who choose us even before we choose them. Their unconditional love, unwavering loyalty, and uncanny ability to form compassionate bonds make anyone fall for them in minutes. That's exactly what happened to Ariel Harris and her partner, who eventually adopted a stray cat (@marmy.cat on Instagram) that surprisingly made his way into their lives like it was destined to happen.

It all began when Harris bought their house in 2018 and found several feral cats living in a field near their residence. In 6 years, she became particularly obsessed with one of the cats, whom she later named Orange Marmalade. By 2020, Harris had become incredibly attached to the stray cat, and they spent a lot of time together. However, till now, she hadn't allowed the feline to enter her house. In the wholesome video, the cat owner shared a few glimpses of her adorable furry friend before she explained how Marmalade developed a serious issue in one eye. "It didn't get better, so we trapped him and took him to a vet," Harris revealed.

Notably, the couple realized that the cat had a foxtail in his eye, causing permanent damage to his eye. Later, Harris and her partner decided to keep Marmalade in their house temporarily, but little did they know that fate had different plans. "We kept him inside for a few weeks to do eye drops and antibiotics. During all this, we also found that he's 100% blind in his other eye," the woman shared. Meanwhile, Marmalade adjusted so well inside their home that Harris then decided to adopt him for life. Moreover, after countless vet visits and treatments, the feline did recover well. "After 6 years of stalking him in the field, I can't believe he is actually mine," Harris said.
Talking more about her bond with the cat, she shared how she was obsessed with the orange cat and even had a camera to spy on him. She said, "I started feeding him; I made shelters for him (that he never used); I put a camera outside to spy on him. I even bought an automatic feeder so he had food when we were out of town." Reacting to the wholesome Instagram reel, @kimwilkins80 commented, "What a lovely story! How a person treats animals tells me everything I need to know about them. Thank you for saving Marmy Boy. I look forward to following his journey from across the pond." @adopting.jess wrote, "What a fabulous story. He looks so happy inside. So happy you get to spend as much time together as you like."

On the other hand, @ssharpestlives shared, "Seeing him go from running through a field to pooping in that fancy litter box was freaking amazing." @lafemmedanslalune revealed, "The most rewarding thing I've ever done is domesticate and gain the trust and deep love of my sweet feral boy. He is now my shadow, sleeping with me every night. He adores the kittens I foster. If you know, you know." @kopf_karen said, "Keep him safe inside. He likes it! Too many predators and things that could hurt him outside." @katcrazy19 pointed out, "Thank you for taking the time to get to know this handsome boy & for taking such great care of him. He is living his best life now, for sure."
