Woman cut open her wall to find the source of ‘strange noises’ — what she found buried in dust left her stunned

A woman could not figure out the strange noises coming from behind the walls of her home. After searching her entire house, the homeowner called for help. She and her accomplices punctured one of the interior walls to investigate the source. The homeowner, Lacy Days (@lacydays7), filmed the moment a few men holed into the wall to uncover a fluffball no one expected. Initially, she thought it was a giant dust bunny until it started breathing, leaving everyone on their toes.

“The exact moment we found the source of the noise in our wall,” an overlay text on the video stated. The 30-second clip showed someone cutting a rectangular hole out of the plasterboard to peer inside. As the man forced the panel open, onlookers spotted a giant fluff lying static in the little space. What looked like a dust bunny turned out to be a stray tabby cat stuck behind the wall. “I thought that was a cat for sure,” her partner chimed. “She’s wedged.” The wall cutter hesitated to touch the stray until Days stroked the feline, but it did not budge from the spot. They wondered if it was alive, then noticed it was breathing all this time. “Go get that kennel. Put it right in,” a fellow advised.

Days coaxed the feline to move as it stretched its legs to pull itself out of the tiny cavity it had been residing in for the past few days. She was surprised to find a unique characteristic about her trapped visitor—it was lacking a tail. The homeowner was not sure who the cat belonged to but speculated that it had run off from one of their neighbor, Taylor’s house, as reported by the Daily Express. The viral post brought in 170,000 likes and a flood of comments poking fun at the incident. “The cat distribution system works in mysterious ways,” said @melvinschmedlap and @kheitz joked, “She’s like, ‘Excuse me, I was resting here.’”

“Me thinking it was a load of wire wool,” wrote @giraffe.egg. However, this was not a rare case as fellow pet owners shared similar experiences. “My cat got on top of my water heater and jumped into the wall. Luckily, I could grab him because he landed on pipes,” said @napalidaypartynever. It is no surprise that cats are extremely curious animals and tend to get stuck in the strangest of places. Be it the chimney, kitchen cupboards, high up in a tree, or on a highway. According to Purely Pets, cats feel a sense of security by squishing themselves into tiny spaces not meant to fit them. This stems from their wildcat instincts that view small spaces as a perfect opportunity to hide from predators or raise kittens.
More often than not, the felines can get themselves out of a situation, but might need a helping hand on some occasions. Additionally, hiding is a normal cat behavior as the felines enjoy privacy more than other pets, per Catster. It is safe to assume that the cat hiding behind Days’ interior wall was looking for a place to hide or rest, away from all the noise, but struggled to get out.
