Woman documents heartbreaking final hours with her beloved dog — and we’re not okay

For pet parents, there is nothing more heartbreaking than losing their four-legged babies. As their pets grow old, each passing moment serves as a constant reminder of the limited time they have left with their furry companions. Similarly, when Martina Liang, who goes by @martinaliang on Instagram, realized her dog, Bubby, had just two days left, she decided to document their final moments together.

Liang shared that her dog, Bubby, had cancer, which eventually attacked her whole body. After her diagnosis, the canine struggled even to walk on her own, leaving little hope for her revival. "She has been a fighter all her life, but unfortunately her time had finally come," Liang revealed. There was nothing much that the owner could do, so she just decided to spend some quality time with her baby. With each passing second, Liang could see her dog having a tough time fighting for her life. "Her lungs were filled with fluid, which was causing the rapid short breaths," she shared. However, amidst the devastating time, Bubby fortunately regained her appetite, allowing her to relish delicious treats during her final days.
Further, Liang shared glimpses of her final day with Bubby, highlighting her anguish because of her deteriorating health. "At this point, I could just tell how bad the cancer was affecting her, but she was still fighting so hard to just pee on her own," the woman said. Liang wanted to pamper her baby and hence decided to feed her her favorite food. However, Bubby again lost her appetite because of the deadly cancer. "All we could really give her at this point was our time by her side," Liang said, before sharing the moment when she realized that Bubby was nearing her end. "It broke my heart seeing her like this," she added. The video ended by revealing the last few hours that Liang and her family spent with their beloved companion of 20 years.
The heart-wrenching Instagram reel received an overwhelming response on social media, leaving netizens teary-eyed. For example, @_sky.kim_ commented, "You did awesome raising her. She lived up to 20 years, which shows how much her owner cared for her." @hifinest808 shared, "Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love; they depart to teach us about loss. It may be the hardest goodbye, but Bubby gave you the greatest memories. Run wild and free, bubby!" @arya._.menon revealed, "This is my biggest fear; the only thing I hope is I can spend my whole time with my little princess when she falls ill. Reach out to her, wherever I might be, when she needs me. God, bless the souls of these pure beings."

On the other hand, @prettybrown_skin26 shared, "This was my baby in July. She could no longer walk and didn’t eat her food, but she did eat watermelon on the last day. Cancer also took my baby away from me. I had 16 good years with her, and even that doesn’t seem to be enough." Likewise, @isha.karia revealed, "My dog didn’t eat or drink in his last days, and I would have done anything for him to eat his favorite stuff one last time. The things we were not letting him eat for his own good before all of a sudden I kept asking him to eat them, and he still didn’t eat them. I will forever regret and wish I could have done something." @alyssefloe wrote, "This made me cry. I can’t imagine the pain of losing a longtime companion. Fly high, Bubby."
