It would be a dream for pet owners to take their furry pals everywhere with them. As fun as that may sound, it’s more of a task to travel with dogs, as places have specific instructions for allowing pets, on flights, in hotels, and in restaurants. Klaudia, a dog owner, had just returned from a vacation and went to pick up her pup, Gapcio, a German Shepherd. She may have wondered whether her dog missed her while she was away. Moments later, her doubts vanished when she checked the letterbox.

Living in the UK, Klaudia and Gapcio shared an inseparable bond. While they did everything together, the dog could not accompany her during her recent vacation. Soon, it was time to come home, and Klaudia found herself worrying whether her dog had missed her. “POV [point of view]: You just came to pick up your dog after being on holiday,” she posted on Gapcio’s TikTok page, @gapciofior, offering insight into their heartwarming reunion after days. She called out the dog’s name while peeking into the letterbox panel of the door. There was a rustling noise before a snout emerged from the other side. The pup was aggressively sniffing through the letterbox to recognize his owner and started howling and whining in joy.

The door opened, and Gapcio was squirming with excitement. He jumped, moved, and cried, trying to get closer to his favorite human who’d returned for him. “My big baby,” read the caption of the post with 793,200 views. People were touched by the reunion and acknowledged the post with emotional insights. “Returning to your baby pets is the best feeling in the world,” said @lololand96, and @yeahthatsme_20 noted, “He couldn’t believe his smell.” “The way he screams through the letterbox,” wrote @teganmw. Others mentioned that the reaction was characteristic of a German Shepherd. “Of course, that high-pitched happy scream is from a vicious German Shepherd,” penned @swiftlygood_. Likewise, @itzitzycore remarked, “Could tell the breed before you opened the door.”

Gapcio is constantly featured on Klaudia’s posts, offering glimpses of their daily life. From going for adventures and daily walks to commuting on the London Underground, the duo does it all. According to Chill Paws, German Shepherds have a great attachment to their owners because of their working dog instincts. Owners are reportedly responsible for expelling their excess energy through rigorous physical activities to keep them healthy and stable. Their high intelligence and loyalty have helped their reputation as one of the most popular dog breeds in the U.S. While they are fun to be around, the breed also comes with its own set of needs.

An active and athletic lifestyle is important, with at least two hours of exercise a day for their physical and mental health. Without enough mental stimulation, the dogs may develop unpleasant behaviors due to pent-up energy and boredom, per Pet MD.
