Woman feels guilty as childhood cat’s adorable demand for attention brings back old memories

At some point in life, most people are forced to leave their homes for better career opportunities, higher education, or personal growth. Although keeping in touch with family members through technology seems easier, people often forget about their pets. Likewise, when Karine (@kari_1ne on TikTok) visited her mother's place, their family cat's adorable way of demanding attention made her remember their special bond. The precious moment beautifully captured Karine's childhood cat's happiness on seeing his favorite human at home. It was as if the cat was happy and emotional at the same time seeing Karine back after a long time.

In the heartwarming TikTik video, Karine was seen sitting at the table and working on her laptop. Meanwhile, her family cat was captured sitting right next to her, looking at her in utmost amusement. He kept gently tapping on Karine's arms, perhaps asking her to spend some time with him, reminiscing about their good old times. Karine, too, responded to the feline's polite aks for attention with repeated head rubs that immediately melted him with uncontrollable happiness. Looking at her childhood cat, Karine instantly felt guilty for not giving him much attention. She wrote, "Sometimes I just forget, I used to spend all my time with him when I was a kid, but he clearly doesn't. And that breaks my heart seeing him like this every time I visit my mom."

Reacting to the video, @derianmop commented, "It kills me when I go home cause I know I'll have to leave my childhood cat again. My parents say that when I leave she just sits waiting by the door until it's time for bed, then she goes to sleep." @sarahhppe wrote, "My mom gave me my first cat when I was 14. I had to leave him with her when I moved out because I couldn't take him with me. every time I am there, it breaks my heart because he always used to sleep with me." @yeep_yop commented, "My childhood cat stopped talking to me when I went to college, wouldn’t let me pet her when I’d visit. In her final months of life, she only wanted me and I slept on the floor with her every night." @missyscarlett10 wrote, "You’re his person. You’ve moved on, but he is still just waiting for you. Don’t forget his life is short - he is part of your life. You are his life."

@sierrabrack commented, "I left my boy when I joined the Army. I came home twice before he passed & I've always randomly thought about how I just left him & he didn't understand why and I cried all over again. It's been 18 years." @rudolphsbff14 wrote, "Watching him try to get your attention is heartbreaking. I’m sure he knows he doesn’t have much time left. Every time you leave, remember that may be the last time you see him. Every pet counts." On the other hand, @tylewah.ttv wrote, "Take breaks to play with him and make him feel loved before you lose the chance to ever do it again. There's nothing in the world I wouldn't give for every cat I've ever known to understand how incredibly loved they are." @paula_mooney wrote, "Cherish these moments and love them and spoil them with treats and love. When they are gone...they are gone."
