Woman moved to tears after seeing Google Earth memory from when her cat was still alive

Losing someone dear is a heart-wrenching experience that leaves an unimaginable void in our hearts. While death is an inevitable reality, advanced technologies help people to relive memories in ways that we often don't realize. Take, for instance, a viral TikTok post by a grieving pet parent (@usiviews on TikTok) who was moved to tears when she came across a photo of her childhood cat caught on Google Earth. The precious picture captured the adorable late kitty waiting for the woman to come home from school.

"Somewhere on Google Earth, it's 2015 and my childhood cat is alive," the woman wrote along the pictures showing her feline waiting for her in the driveway. Besides, talking more about the bittersweet photos, she wrote, "He’s waiting for me in another life," in the caption. Notably, Google Earth collects images from satellites and street-view cameras and provides high-resolution images of places across the globe. Interestingly, these images are updated regularly to keep up with the changes in the environment.

Meanwhile, the TikTok post received an overwhelming response on social media, resonating with several netizens. For instance, @calypso commented, "From time to time, I always search Google Street View of my parent’s house just to feel the warmth of it, especially when my dad is still alive." Similarly, @tua.the.witch wrote, "STOP my childhood kitty is in the driveway of my childhood home in Google Maps too. The sneaky girl wasn’t supposed to be outside." @scotticusmaximvs commented, "These make me sad. I think about how my dad used to be on Google Maps in the driveway. He passed in 2018 and they have rescanned the neighborhood. I miss looking at it." @yanzz333h wrote, "Somewhere in Google Earth in 2017, I saw our old house, my clothes were hanging outside.. that's when I know my mom and dad were inside probably watching TV." @sophiemattos wrote, "I just got off a 12-hour double and wasn’t expecting to sob but here we are. He is your little guardian angel always."

@bellerodolfoonig commented, "My cat was still on the road we rescued her from, on Google Maps until recently(She is beside me as we speak)." @moni wrote, "This hit hard. My cat was indoors so there was no way for Google Earth to capture him but my voicemail greeting unintentionally still recorded his meow." @kriiSss (eerfenitselap) commented, "Why would you do this to me? I have WAY TO MANY hormones flying around right now! I miss my old man so much."

In another pet story, Daniel (@wolkwhisky on X) came up with a unique way to deal with the grief of losing his dog, Sam. He posted a video featuring his pet, which was created using virtual reality. "I made a 3D scan of my dog Sam a couple of years ago. She passed away 7 months ago, I still miss her a lot," Daniel revealed in the caption, capturing his puppy sleeping peacefully at a typical beach setup. "I still visit her in this beach scene I made in @UnrealEngine in VR because our last trip was supposed to be a little vacation on a beach, but her health didn't let us go," Daniel added in the caption.
