Woman thought she’d be lonely after her breakup, but her adorable cat had other plans

What happens when a couple who had been together for a long time breaks up? Apart from the emotional turmoil, individuals, especially those habituated to sharing their space with someone, struggle to live alone post-breakup. However, Anne, a woman from France, didn't have to experience loneliness after her ex-boyfriend moved out of her apartment — all thanks to her adorable Siberian cat, Ulie. In a wholesome video shared on @frenchy_siberian's Instagram page, the woman captured how her cat, after her separation, has refused to leave her alone, even in the bathroom.

In the video, which has gone viral with over a million views, Anne shared how after her separation from her ex-boyfriend, she started living with her cat, and ever since then, Ulie has been staying close, a little more than usual. As captured, every morning, when Anne goes for a shower, her cat, Ulie, also follows her like a loyal guardian, making sure she's not left alone even for a minute. First, the cat gently opened the bathroom door, then made their way to the shower area, and stood near Anne, as if offering silent support. "POV: you think you live alone, but your cat is always here to remind you it’s not true," Anne wrote in the video caption.
Further, talking to Newsweek, Anne shared that while she was living with her ex-boyfriend, Ulie had occasionally followed her into the shower, but, after the breakup, this surprisingly became a routine for the cat. While cats' aversion to water is a very common sight in most households, Anne's story stands as a reminder, highlighting how empathetic animals are towards their human companions. But have you ever wondered why cats, especially the ones living as pets, hate water? As per a report by Britannica, cats avoid water since they are unfamiliar with it, having evolved in dry climates. Another justification for their hatred can be what water does to their fur.
Reacting to the video, @duchess_n_chloe commented, "This is so cute. Who needs a guy when you have a supportive bestie?" Similarly, @laillette_ wrote, "After my breakup, my cat started to sleep with me all night long (he never did before)." Another pet parent, who goes by @curvecreation on Instagram, said, "She’s like, 'It’s a bit wet, but I’m just happy to be here.' My bathroom cat guards me whenever I’m in the loo." @nelly.ttze revealed, "When I cry or my depression is getting worse, my cat notices this so fast and comes cuddling immediately — mind you, she doesn't like cuddling."

On the other hand, @aurelija_winter commented, "This warms my heart as I also have a cat, but with my ex, we lived in a house, and the cat spent a lot of time outside. Now I live in an apartment and left my cat with my parents, as they live in a village. It breaks my heart to leave her; I'm also broken to keep her in the apartment." @fiercely_jess revealed, "I can not shower, eat, sleep, go outside, or do anything without one of my babies right there with me. I’ve been packing to move (which is depressing on its own), and I was in the backyard, and I guess I was out there alone a little too long, and one of my babies found a way to open the door, and boom, was next to me like, 'You were alone too long, and now I’m here to watch you.'"
